    Good hardware, crummy interface

It seems to produce a good image, and the anti-keystoning was a good thing. But.... 1) The remote was awful. For whatever reason, I found myself getting either no response...or two repsonses, many times. 2) I gave a presentation with it, and it took forever to just get the remote to put me into the app I was using; it was in some sort of mode at one point where nothing appeared to be highlighted, or the wrong thing was. Navigation is tricky and non-intuitive. And having to walk around behind the unit after pointing out things in the image got old very fast; the remote receiver is on the wrong side IMHO. 3) The app was to show photographs. Unfortunately...this app displays pictures in REVERSE order of the photo's metadata date stamp. Yes, most recent first. I didn't want to show it in that order, or even forward order, but rather a different order. Renaming the files (my camera writes the date into the picture's file name) in the hopes that it would alphebetize the files and show them in that order didn't work. No, I had to open the properties dialog for each file, change tabs and change the date...and set the fake dates up in reverse order! I can sort of understand using the metadata (though most users don't have any notion what that is and/or how to change it--filename would be better), but why, oh why does it display in REVERSE order? Never wanting to have to open the properties dialog, then change tabs, then deal with the weird interface for the date (can't change the time of day!) on sixty files ever again, or deal with that balky remote, I returned the unit. With a better remote and better software this could be a very good unit for the money. Without it, it was an exercise in minor frustration after minor frustration (reverse order by metadata date? Really?).

When it comes down to it, the most important thing for a projector to me is the picture. This projector nailed it as far as picture quality goes. It is rated at 500 lumens, but is substantially brighter than the LG PH550 or the Miroir M300A. It is also the best 720p image I have seen from a projector. Other attractive features with the Q3 Plus are the many different configuration options available in settings to control the image and sound and the ability to stream movies without having to use another device. The Q3 Plus accomplishes this by having and Android OS and you can download Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, etc. Oddly enough the Q6 doesnt have this functionality, and I dont think the Q38 does either. However....the fan is pretty loud and the remote is awful regarding the range, you have to be directly behind the machine for it to work. The pluses in this projector outweigh the negatives and its actually my favorite of the three I mentioned so far..

    nice projector. Wireless? not really

The image quality was better and brighter than I expected. Battery, USB/micro SD ports are definitely a good thing. I thought it was relatively quiet, but I could see how some people might find it loud. Overall construction, size, weight, portability is all quite good. Here's what I don't like: I can not get the wireless features to work at all. I tried pairing it through bluetooth and through my wifi and it won't hook up to any of my devices (tried iphone and android). It connects to the internet VERY slowly, too slowly to even use. And here is a MAJOR inconvenience: the receiver for the remote is in the back of the unit and I have a VERY difficult time getting it to trigger properly. Takes me a very long time to get the projector to respond to remote control commands even when the remote is pointed straight at the receiver. This is counter-intuitive to most projector designs, as most projectors are mounted behind the viewers. Typically, you point the remote at the front of the projector. If the unit is at the back of the room and against the wall, how am i supposed to use the remote?? With a new remote controller design, this thing would be much better. If the wifi/bluetooth doesn't work, don't advertise it! It's a decent projector without it.

I bought and kept this item based on the sale price ($150 less than retail) and my primary use for it is still imagery and secondary is movie watching. Here's my pros and cons list: Pro Great image Very bright even in a well-lit room As long as you have a high-res image, you'll have a very sharp projection Con Sound quality is poor in an outdoor environment Sound is hard to hear inside because fan to cool projector is noisy Cannot use a portable battery to charge on the go; must have an outlet to charge Remote is the only way to access menu settings and the remote is slow... I'll press a button and it stalls/lags and I end up taking 5x longer to access an image or video file than it should take Could not get it to connect using iPhone, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, or Samsung Galaxy 7 via Bluetooth Sound would not connect via Bluetooth to portable speakers (attempted using Jawbone) Unable to HEAR movie outside because of poor sound I camp, so I thought this would be fun to take on the go and watch a movie in the tent to escape some mosquitos. The sound quality may make it impossible to hear, but I'm still working out possibilities.

Many great features in a very compact size. Only objection I have is that the 2 watt speakers are totally inadequate for most people to enjoy a movie. I paired it with a JBL Bluetooth speaker however and the combined package is awesome given I can carry it around in my laptop bag. Get a nice little three leg stand and you have a hundred inch AV setup with just 2 pounds. One other disappointing note. My IPad mini would mirror but it was very choppy and would not play my movies stored on it. Using my Netflix direct on the device was great and worked perfect. Same thing with YouTube.

I travel quite a bit for both my job and pleasure, sometimes you just don't know what the hotel TVs are going to be like. As I have a majority of my movies and TV shows on the computer this has been a great investment. High quality brightness in addition to the various settings make it a must pack. This device works great in various settings, from camping to setting up in the living room. Just waiting for football season to pick back up and projecting games on the living room wall.

I cannot complain about the quality or brightness of the projector for its size. It is perfect for me as I travel by plane every week and have to travel with this projector. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the plastic surround is glued onto the front near the lense, and with the heat of the projector lense the glue has gotten soft allowing the plastic to come away from the unit. It really is not a major problem, and does not affect its functionality.

The quality on the image of this projector was great. The 720p image was very clear and it was definitely bright enough. However, I found the interface to be difficult and there were no instructions. I tried for 10 minutes to simply play a YouTube video, but never was able to. I personally tried this out against a similarly priced ZTE S Pro 2, while this had a brighter image, the ZTE won every other battle, so I kept that and returned this one.
