The telephone system comes with 2 telephone line cord, use the black one to install the base to your jack. You may also test the base on the jack where the working phone is installed for isolation. However, you have an option to connect a 2.5mm corded headset on the cordless handset or a VTech cordless headset model IS6200 to the telephone base.
