Hard drive replacement for my Imac
|Posted .Instead of having my 21" Imac upgraded at the Apple store I purchased the Mainstream 1TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive at best buy and did it myself. Well to be exact I let my son do the work as it has been his passion for many years. Not only did it save me around $175, but I upgraded from 500 gig to 1TB so it was a double win.

Perfect for a startup Drobo storage device
|Posted .I needed this to fill a drive bay slot in my Drobo USB storage device. It "fit the bill" without flaw. It's a smaller Drobo than the others I own and the 1TB capacity was exactly what I required.

Installed nicely. Good desktop choice.
Posted .This drive replaced a failing Seagate 3 TB drive. That drive was about a year and a half old. I read a lot of good reviews about this one and a really bad 40% failure rate one about the Seagate 3 TB. This drive is cool and quiet. I'm using Linux Mint 17.2 KDE. I'm going to limit desktops to 1 TB drives from now on.

Quality1 out of 5Value1 out of 5Ease of Use1 out of 5April 2021: After a decade my old Seagate hard drive crashed while in use - Blue screen of death. So I purchased this Western Digital 1GB SATA drive model WDBH2D0010HNC-NRSN as a replacement. Price was right and BestBuy had it in stock on the shelf. Drive has been in operation a month to date. Formatted with zero errors. Speed is very good (6 Gb/s @ 7200RPM). Noise level is very low. 2 year warranty. Made in Thailand. Compatible with Win 8.1 and Win 10. Comes with 4 mounting screws and quick installation guide. This is a perfect replacement. DB (old techie).

Worked out great
|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendMy only "complaint" would be that you didn't actually have the model I was looking for so we ended up choosing a different one. I'm not very familiar with it all but it's my understanding these hard drives come in various "color" models.. for example, Black, Green, Red... everyone I asked at the store were unsure what I was talking about which was sort of surprising.. I had to request to take the product out of the box to ensure what color they were. The labels on the product are color coded. The person at the register reluctantly let me take a look but kept telling me all labels would be black... that was not the case. Maybe your computer people working in the stores need a bit more product knowledge?

WD 1TB Internal SATA Drive

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Was working on a Friends computer and he couldn't figure out why it was running so very slow, and getting a blue screen after booting up. Found out it was a bad drive. Bought this Western Digital 1 TB drive to replace his existing one, and that booted up without any issues. Best Buy had it in stock and took only a few minutes to pick up, swap out, and install the OS. Everything is great.

A solid drive for a good price.

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Excellent value, good solid drive. Speeds as expected. Nothing special, but the price tag is right. If you need a bunch of drives for system images, data archiving, or any application where speed isn't absolutely paramount, it's hard to beat the WD Blue 1TB for price and convenience. (By no means are the drives slow for what they are, they're just no SLC NAND SSD... but again, neither is their price tag.)

Q: QuestionHow to acquire Acronis True ImageOnce the hdd is purchased how does one go about getting the Acronis True Image cloning software? Is this a trial only offer for Acronis software?
Asked by Spencerman.
- A:Answer You download the Acronis software from WD's site. It is a limited version that allows you to clone drives and work with partitions. I think that you would need to pay for the full version to be able to do more extensive drive work and to backup and restore drive images on a scheduled basis.

Q: Questioncomparing 2 WD driveswhat one would you recomend the WD Mainstream 1TB(Model: WDBH2D0010HNC-NRSN) or the WD BLUE 1TB (Model: WD10EZEX)
Asked by ed.
- A:Answer I would go with the WD10EZEX. That's what I use and I have no issues with it. If you are a computer gamer and you play games a lot on your computer I would recommend you to look into the WD1003FZEX. Basically the black edition is faster processing speed. Blue is for every day use and green is for the once in awhile use. I recommend staying black or blue color hard drives.

Q: QuestionIs it compatible with a ps4?
Asked by Mvp1991.
- A:Answer Yes, very much so. Only thing is that you have to reformat the drive so that the PS4 can detect it. Took less than 5 min on a PC.

Q: Questioncan i use this drive as a replacement my original hard drive in a dell dimension 4600 with windows xp. i still like my xp. thanks for any answer.
Asked by angeldog.
- A:Answer Yes the drive will work I a dell system. You might need extra cables if you are planning on using software to move the old drive to the new drive. Otherwise you will need to reinstall everything manually or use a dell recovery disk.

Q: QuestionWould this drive be recommended for use on a gamer compared to the 'Black' model?
Asked by Sentinel.
- A:Answer For gaming I always stick to the black models. Hard drive latency seems to be lower on the blacks. The blues are great for storage. Will the blue be able to play games? Yes. Will it perform as well as the black? No. These days if you're going to game, I highly suggest looking into solid state drives.

Q: QuestionMy hdd is totally clean and has no boot media will this boot it 5o the bios? ??
Asked by Ladyalison.
- A:Answer No. This will not.Your BIOS has nothing to do with what drives are in your system. You don't even need a drive of any kind attached to access your BIOS. This is usually done by tapping the Delete, F2, or other key depending on your system. (30 years working with computers)

Q: QuestionI have a Dell desktop that crashed. Had Win10 & Office. Can I just install this HD & get my Win10 & Office back? Also should I take a look a getting into a SS drive. Don't really need this 1TB. Old HD is a Western Digital Caviar SE WD2500JD-75HBC
Asked by JohnnyBoyyy.
- A:Answer If your previous drive crashed it's most likely shot. There are programs that can recover an image of the drive or possibly gather files that aren't corrupt. Try to do some searches online about recovering files from a crashed drive. Installing the new drive is gonna be starting from scratch. Unless you backed up the previous drive or have an image of it, it's gone. Having an SSD is always a plus. Start up is faster and browsing through the computer (with multiple programs/windows open) is much faster. Can never hurt to have a SSD as your master and use something like this SATA as the storage and program use (partitioned).
