Q: Can a failed drive be user replaced?
A: I'm not sure if you are asking about lost data, photos and movies or if the Passport pro just quit working. If you don't care about the stuff lost on the failed Passport Pro, just plug a new one in and use it. If you are talking about recovering the stuff on the drive Best Buy and other companies may be able to retrieve the lost data on the non-working Passport Pro. I recently had a external hard drive quit working and had Best Buy send it to a specialist and they were able to recover valuable family photos which I could not do on my own.
