Q: will this unit works with windows 10?
A: Yes, it will work with Windows 10. It will auto recognize and install necessary drivers. Win XP should also auto load the drive, if you have that option set up.
A: The included software allows you the freedom to create/set up multiple backup plans (such as one for a full backup of all files, one of the original system files, and others for individuals areas of your choosing). If you want to create a backup of the system that wont be replaced repeatedly, create a plan for it. Once it saves it the first time, you can end that plan. It will keep the original backup and won't replace it in the future.
Q: will this drive back up data from my dvr
A: Yes, this works with Dish DVR. I don't know about Direct tv.
Q: Can this be used on multiple devices (laptop and a desktop)?
A: I do not know if the drive can be partitioned, but I would suspect so. I'm guessing that is what you mean. In that regard, I apologize if this answer is too obvious, but you could establish separate directories on the external harddrive, one for each computer, and via the drag-n-drop method back up the separate computers in their separate directories.

A: Works just fine on Windows 10, I've never had an issue with it

A: After formatting there will be approximately 1.8 TB available.

A: Yes, this product will work with Xbox One.
Q: Will this hard drive work on an HP desktop computer from 2009 with windows 7?
A: Should be able to. Might be slow as you only have USB 2.0 to work with.
