WeMo WiFi Smart Dimmer
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these to replace two previous-generation WeMo wall dimmers in my home. The prior devices would pretty regularly lose connectivity with WiFi and (therefore) the app. Thus far, these new-generation devices have not exhibited that problem. They were easy to install because I'd already sorted out and labeled the requisite four wire attachments needed for each unit in my wall switch box. If you've never installed a WeMo switch before, note that you must identify both the Common and the Ground wires, as well as the two powered wires. The installation instructions really help in identifying these though. The only reason I'm not raving about these switches is that our general frustration with WeMo has reached a point where we're transitioning our house away from WeMo to Kasa devices. The customer service for WeMo has been VERY unhelpful with troubleshooting a variety of programming and connectivity issues we've had. The WeMo user forums have been much more helpful, but even on those, a considerable number of customers are saying they've had it with WeMo. It was on such a forum that we learned about Kasa. So, yes, this device is good and may reflect that WeMo is finally getting their act together, but overall, we're moving on.

Great affordable smart dimmer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My office has recessed lighting that was way too bright for night time. I wanted a dimmer that I could also control from my phone so I went with the WEMO smart dimmer. This thing has been awesome! The dimmer is really easy to use by just sliding your finger up or down. Turning it on and off requires much less force than I originally thought. After realizing you only need to tap it, it makes the experience even better. I use iPhone so I set the light up with apple homekit. Whenever I need to change my light I can just ask siri or open my control center and change it in seconds. Setup was fairly easy but just make sure you kill the power where you are working and have some electrical knowledge. I highly recommend this dimmer to anyone who enjoys tech in their home.

Works great, but has a few quirks…
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome product. Installation was easy and works great, but it does have some quirks. For example, setting the brightness to 100% makes the light turn completely off, but if I set it to 99%, the light appears to be at peak brightness. Same thing happens below 10%, it just shuts off. If it weren’t for those strange quirks, I would rate 5 stars. No bridge or hub required to work with HomeKit which is a great feature.

Is it a disco setting ?
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Installed two dimmers on two different circuits. Both dimmers after a few hours start to flicker and pulse. I’ve reset the dimmers and now one dimmer will recognize in Apple HomeKit. And not in the Wemo app. Frustrating. I called customer service twice. On hold for 40 min each time b4 giving up. Posted on FB they said pm them. No response 8 hours later. Now I know why people get the bulbs. After rewiring 4 3ways to accommodate there switches.

Bad product and bad support
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its big and bulky, you need to have a lot of room also one of it is defective (lost wifi signal, top 3 led not lit, flickering, etc). Wemo support is a joke, they close the case automatically after certain time.

Nice Upgrade from Previous Dimmer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the utility of Belkin's Wemo switches because they're one of the best choices for adding smart home functionality without having to worry about buying new bulbs or a new light fixture. I have 2 original Wemo switches controlling our front patio and garage lights and have had no issues with them. We bought a new house and the formal dining room had a really nice light fixture that we wanted to keep, but we wanted to add a dimming function to it and be able to control it with our Alexa / Google Home / HomeKit set up. Opting for a Wemo dimmer was the logical, and cheaper choice than making each bulb a smart bulb. If you're familiar with dimmer switches, they can be deceptive - especially if you're replacing a simple, single toggle switch. Most time, especially if they were put in by the builder, single toggle switches use a very small mounting box, and getting a dimmer switch to fit can be a squeeze with the extra backing on the switch and the wires in the wall. I'll say that again - this is a thick unit on the back - so don't be surprised if it's a tight fit and you find yourself pushing on it to screw in the mounting screws into the wall box. Belkin's Dimmer switch is about the same size as most other dimmer switches that I've seen in terms of depth - and as with any WiFi enabled device, you cannot install it without a WHITE / Neutral wire in the wall. Most newer homes have them, if you don't you'll need to check with an electrician if adding something like this is doable. Installing the Wemo switch was fairly straightforward. Remove the old switch from the wall, check the wires to ID the lead from the switch, kill the power at the breaker box, install the new switch, restore power and boom - you're done. I've replaced several lighting switches and fixtures before, so this whole process took maybe 10 minutes for me from start to finish. Once the switch is installed, you'll use Wemo's app to walkthrough the setup and complete HomeKit setup. If you use Google Assistant or Alexa, you'll need to refresh your Wemo account in those apps for them to pick up the new light. The switch itself is clean and well designed. It uses capacitive touch to adjust the lighting levels, which is a nice touch. The power button is clearly visible and provides a satisfying click when pressed. If you're in the market for a dimmer and are wanting to get into a smart home project, I recommend the Wemo Dimmer switch. Only reason I took off a star from the rating was that the cover plate they send with it required some playing with to get it off and then I had to use the palm of my hand to pop it back on once I had the switch in the wall.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Add a finger slide control to this model of the Wemo by Belkin lineup, currently $40 at Best Buy. Wemo Smart Dimmer light switch is a replacement for existing wall switches that are not on three-way circuits. The switch can control all incandescent bulbs, dimmable CFLs and dimmable LEDs. This is a good time to update bulbs that are not dimmable LEDs. Once in place, instructions call for using your phone to scan a code on the back of the switch. The code sends users to either the Home app on iOS or Alexa on Android phones. Alexa voice control can be added to iOS phones and iPads. Touch control at the switch provides ON/OFF and dimming with finger slide up and down on the switch. Very cool! Through the apps, users can set ON and OFF times, with dim levels as well as daily programming. The switch installs with the ease in place of any existing, standard wall switch. The installed wall plate is easily removed for access to the mounting screws attaching the switch to the wall box. This plate is not used when the switch shares a box with other switches. In single switch installations the wall plate provides a stylish finishing look. There are four wires – Line, Load, Neutral and Ground, typical for house wiring in most installations. If your wiring is different or if you are not comfortable with such installations and the cautions involved, such as turning off power to that switch, seek professional advice. On the other hand, this is a good opportunity to learn how easy it is to replace a switch. The easy-to-follow instructions guide users to a successful outcome, including the most important step – linking to Wi-Fi for the control of lights turned on and off with this switch. The switch uses the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band, so be sure your phone used for setup is connected to the 2.4 GHz side of your Wi-Fi and not the 5.0 GHz band. This requires users to know the difference and to connect accordingly. It cannot be overstated that this is EASY. If it appears difficult at the outset, this is a good opportunity to learn about your Wi-Fi. Your router, assuming it is newer than about five years, has both bands. Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) if needed, or ask a friend to show you how to access the 2.4 GHz band needed for this setup. Once setup is completed and the standard ON and OFF commands are accessible from the mobile device, all the other capabilities are available. Use the app for convenience and security settings and programming depending upon which lights are to be controlled with your Wemo. Set ON, OFF, Dim levels for the front door. For example, ON at 100% at dusk, Dim to 50% from midnight to dawn, then OFF. For a switch that controls several lights in the dining area, use the app to manually turn ON, Dim to 20% to set the mood at dinner. For a wall switch in a bedroom, use the app to control lighting from bed. NEVER have to get out of bed to turn out the lights. Because this smart wall switch is Wi-Fi controlled, it can be accessed from anywhere, whether at home or on the other side of the globe. The greatest convenience is that lighting control is as close as the phone within constant reach. Wemo Smart Wall Switch cannot control smart bulbs. Many smart bulbs allow color change as well as dimming. Choose your objective before purchase. For color-directed mood lighting, get smart LEDs to do that job. ONE Wemo Smart Wall Switch can control as many lights as are on the circuit to be controlled, within the limits of its capacity of 400 ACTUAL watts or 250 watts for a multi-switch box. With modern and efficient LEDs, there is a lot of headroom here. Simple, convenient programmable control is what this switch is all about. The Wemo brand is solid. Backed by Belkin’s THREE YEAR warranty, I am confident in recommending this and all the Wemo smart switches from Belkin.

Q: QuestionTo clarify, there is no light switch to use just with your hands? Voice or an app must be used to turn lights on and off?
Asked by Al.
- A:Answer There is a physical button on the switch, it's a push button that functions for both turning the switch on and off. There is a noticeable click feel to the push button, much like pressing the power or volume buttons on a smart phone. However, I have come across a couple of defective units where the push button mechanism does not work nor could you feel any click while pressing the button; and Belkin had to replace those units. The replacement units worked just as they should with the physical button. As for the Wi-Fi feature, you can use that independently of the push button. Google home and Alexa work fantastically with voice commands, as well as the apps for Wemo, Google home, and alexa. And just to further clarify, you don't even need the Wi-Fi function if you don't want it, since the button works just as well as any regular on/off light switch. Probably a more detailed explanation than you asked for, just wanted to give you a good bit a feedback since I have over a dozen of these switches in my home; a combination of single pole, 3 way, and power outlet switches. All of them have a physical on/off button, and can literally be turned on and off by any means. You can turn it on with the push button, and then turn it off with voice/app command, and visa versa. The nice thing about the apps is that it keeps track of which switch is on, so when you pull up the list on your account, it'll already know which ones are on or off, and flip it once you click on that switch. Hope this info helps your decision, I'm certainty happy with my switches so far, even after Belkin made good on giving me replacements for my defective units.

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between Wemo wifi smart dimmer WDS060 and F7C059?
Asked by vangoh.
- A:Answer The Wemo Smart Dimmer WDS060 is the newer version of the Wemo Wi-Fi Smart Dimmer F7C059. It has a different hardware and firmware from the old version. The LED indicator of the Wemo WDS060 is a ring light around the power logo while the Wemo F7C059 has a LED light bar. This efficient design makes the Wemo WDS060 less expensive than the Wemo F7C059.

Q: QuestionI have 2 switches (1 standard and 1 dimmer) that controls the same set of lights. Can I just replace the dimmer switch alone with this product to convert it to a 'smart dimmable 2 way lighting' ?
Asked by Sharif.
- A:Answer This will not work. You have a 3 way set up and this switch will not work in a 3 way setup. Wemo does make a 3 way switch, but not a 3 way dimmer.
