Synopsis

While We're Young
Noah Baumbach's comedy-drama While We're Young stars Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts as Josh and Cornelia, a childless New York married couple in their mid-forties. As their other friends all start having children, the duo gravitate toward a young hipster couple named Jamie (Adam Driver) and Darby (Amanda Seyfried). He's an aspiring documentary filmmaker, a vocation Josh already has. Soon, the older couple begin enjoying the energy they feel hanging out with the younger generation, but eventually Josh begins to suspect his new best friend might not be as straightforward and trustworthy as he thought. While We're Young screened at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

Oh, when we were young, did we accomplish everything we wanted, anything? This film brings a new perspective which almost makes it seem real. Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts play a young couple in New York City. Their marriage seems secure, childless, they say they want it that way. Stiller's character has a documentary he has been working on for ten years, and I thus now 6 1/2 hours long, will it ever end. They strike up a relationship with a younger couple, played by Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried. Driver's character is also a film maker, and he and Stiller become friends. These young friends are good for the couple, they feel freer and younger, until Driver's character shows his true self

The first time I watched this I didn't like it primarily because the four main characters were all so obnoxious. However, on my second viewing, I had a completely different take on it, as I think I didn't really "get it" the first time around. I usually enjoy Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts and this movie is no exception, as the movie kind of grew on me.

Some Ben Stiller movies are really good; this was not one of them. It was waste of time. Very disappointing, as I like Naomi Watts too, plus the years are starting to show on her. I may just be another dumb "Fokker" fan, but the end of this flick was like getting released from jail.

Thought this would be a good movie because of Ben Stiller. Stiller going through a mid-life crises runs across a young couple who leads you to believe they are full of life and live the moment. At the end it was a scam and I wasted 1hr 30min of my life watching. Save your time...

Ben Stiller is good in this...which is odd. I'm so used to him being just ok and relying on comedy, but here he does some good acting. A story relatable for people of a certain age...but don't we all always want to be living the life we see others living?

I honestly thought I would like this film more especially since I am a fan of Amanda but this isn't one of the best films she has been in......that goes to "Letters to Juliet" which was a great film!

Noah Baumbach is at the top of his game. This movie leaves no one unscathed and doesn't fall into a traditional Hollywood ending when it could. Funny, thought provoking, what I expect in a movie.

Wife wanted to see this one. I watched it with her, but just didn't find it all that interesting. It was ok, don't know if we'll watch it again. Probably will gather some dust for awhile.
