Whirlpool 1.1 Cu. Ft. Low Profile Over-the-Range Microwave Hood Combination
This unit looks great above my Sammy slide-in range. Let me tell you - for a smaller microwave - it is a bit heavier than the old Samsung uwave. You will need help supporting it while the bolts are screwed in from above. Thanks neighbor! Equal wattage as before but maybe not 1000w as before. Needs a little more time to cook some items. Love the 30sec basic time when Start is pushed, for rolls and cups of coffee etc.
I've been waiting for this low profile Over the range microwave for a few years already. They used to make these more often but then every company went the bigger is better way and I was stock with an Whirlpool unit that hung only 15 inches above the stove. Not a good thing if you wanna keep your microwave free from grease and have proper venting while cooking. This 7011 unit is great, low profile that now sits whole 20 inches above the stove. Planty room to pull in the cooking steams and remain clean from oil and grease. The install was a little tricky for me as the cabinet mounting holes required a minimum 12 inches distance away from the back wall but my old cabinets are only 12 inches away so the drilled holes ended up being right next to the end rim of the cabinet and prevented me from easily using the provided washers. I ended up cutting into the cabinet rim to be able to slide the washer into it and aligning the whole with the mounting bolt. In the end its a very strong hold. Another problem with the install was that the none of the wall mounting holes aligned with the studs in the wall and I didnt wanna use the ankers if I didn't have to so I decided not to use any of the pre-drilled mounting holes and drilled 4 holes through the metal mounting bracket directly into the studs, two at the top of the bracket and two at the bottom. In the end much stronger install then using the wall ankers in my opinion. I love this microwave. It looks great giving an updated look to an outdated kitchen, lol, and prevented me from cutting down the cabinets to be able to fit regular size microwave. p.s. Just be ready to do something with the extra space on the back wall that is left under the microwave . Mine left a bare wall so before installing the new unit I had to place some stone tiles where the regular tiles were missing, just an extra time spent but make sure to plan for that when replacing a larger unit with this one. Good luck
We wanted to get the microwave off the counter but because of a pot filler faucet mounted on the wall behind the cook top we would have had to either move the plumbing or raise the upper cabinet. Both would require a significant amount of work and cost. This product was not only an option, it was a GREAT option. Turns out to be just what we wanted without the pain of demolition. Glad we found it when we did.
We are very impressed with this low profile microwave duo overhead vent from Whirlpool. The microwave is fantastic with all its features and warming/cooking functionality and the space capacity to fit food inside it. The sleekness of the design also was the icing on cake as it really saved us space and improved the look of our kitchen.
PS - I bought this online with o en and the service BB provided was exceeded our expectations- they were top notch installation and their customer service of notifications was high service- they made sure to book appointment, availability for our needs and the mobile text notifications for appointment and arrival of tech was awesome - we never had to call them!
Very unique product, as far as I know Whirlpool is the only manufacturer making the Low Profile over the range Microwaves. So much better having that distance between the stove top and the microwave! Better exhaust and easier to see what you are cooking. The old low hanging unit was covered in grease! I vented the unit directly out the back to the outside and the air flow is unbelievable! Very good removal of fumes and smoke from cooking! Very impressive looking unit too! The metal mounting bracket doubles as a template for all the holes making installation a breeze. Simply hold the bracket up against the bottom of the upper cabinet and mark the three holes for the two bolts and cord. Had the wife help me to hold it while getting the bolts started. Only confusing thing was finding the start button. It is labeled with an arrow and +30 seconds. Surprising all the manufacturers are not making these low profile units. This is a bit pricey but worth every penny, get it on sale as it goes often. Two LED lights (one inside and one lights your stove top) are bright, use very little power and should last forever. Great product!
I pulled it out of the box and one of the sides is damaged. The mounting will cover most of it. I’m debating on whether or not to have it replaced. I’m knee deep in the install since I’ve removed the old microwave.
I will update after the install is completed
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I purchase this microwave for about two weeks ago. The microwave looks great in my kitchen. It fit in my kitchen very well for the little cabinet space we had. It’s easy to clean. The instructions were a little difficult to understand. My husband was able to get the microwave install in a day, with a little help of YouTube. I wish the display would show the microwaves functions before purchasing the microwave at Best Buy. There are a few things that are negative about the microwave. First of all the light is not very bright. The light is to dim for the two selections on it. If I do not have my kitchen lights on I would not be able to see what I’m cooking. My old hood had a better light. The vent hood does not pull out all the smoke out. I tried it with the carbon filters in and without the carbon filters my house was still full of smoke. The exhaust fan is very loud compared to my old vent hood. I read everyone’s review before I purchased it. The reviews were raving about it but I’m not too happy with it. I wish I went with a different system.
I was trying to find a sleek and modern range fan, but was about to give up when I saw this. I didn't even know they made these, and I am so glad I got one. Everyone that sees my kitchen is amazed by the look of the low profile microwave. It does stick out slightly more than a regular microwave, but it is unobtrusive. My favorite feature is the "touch to open" button. You just lightly tap the button and the door pops open, it's a really nice feature. The fan feature works well and have had no issues with overheating or anything of the sort. Installation was very easy.
A:Answer I just spoke to a tech about the strong air blowing out the front left vent above the door. He said the fan has to be reversed to vent into the ceiling vent. It comes from the factory with recirculation back into the kitchen. They are coming next week. I will update.
The unit does stick out further than my cabinets as well. Initially I thought it looked a bit odd until everything else was in place. Now, all I get are rave reviews of its appearance in my small compact kitchen. Instead of being an eyesore or looking like the odd man out as far as built-ins and countertop pieces go, it distinguishes itself with a sleek profile a beautiful display and soft lighting. The automatic door open feature with one simple touch, is wonderful. You will not regret this purchase, it’s just different than what we are accustomed to.
A:Answer Yes, the Microwave does have the option to vent outside, or indoors, if you choose. I did find that the exhaust fan is so powerful, it still produces some airflow to the inside, even though it blasts air to the exhaust pipe.
A:Answer This microwave gives you the option to either vent from the bottom front vents or from the top. The top vents are sealed if bought new and you would have to pop open the metal panel to vent from top. The default option is to vent from the front bottom.
