Love this low profile microwave oven!!! We had a piece of absolute garbage LG black stainless steel before this. The black coating starting peeling and the plastic parts were cracking after only 2 years of use. Whirlpool has always been a good solid product and they were the only ones to offer this low profile microwave that had the option to have the vent set up for outside venting. We love it! We don't cook in our microwave, mostly just used for defrosting and warming things up. I was so tired of the huge microwaves that took up so much space. This one is so sleek and EXACTLY what I was looking for. We didn't install so I can't speak to the ease of that. I was concerned about how far it sticks out from the cabinets but that has actually not bothered me at all because it is so short. No handle so you don't have to worry about the handle breaking like on our previous oven. I would definitely recommend this if your looking for a low profile microwave.

I had been using a very basic countertop microwave, and I wanted something better. I also wanted to free up counter space. This (and a lesser one with fewer features) is the only over the range microwave that’s compact enough to avoid interfering with the view of the stove top. Yet it’s tall enough inside that virtually anything I could ever want to put in it will fit just fine. It also has a really powerful ventilation fan—so powerful that I rarely use more than the lowest speed to ventilate through my roof. It was relatively easy to install, although the installation instructions could use some work. Once I got used to setting it and then closing the door, I have found all of its features to be easy to use. Its lights are adequate to light the stove top on the higher setting; on the lower setting , they are adequate as a night light. My only complaint is that the electronic signal for the end of cooking or timing isn’t very loud. It is adjustable, and I have it turned up all the way, but it’s barely audible from anywhere other than in the kitchen. But otherwise, it’s a truly excellent appliance. I am very happy with it. I chose white to complement the “old farmhouse” appearance of my kitchen. I like that its appearance is very clean and uncluttered with visible controls.
