Customers are saying
Customers are pleased with the dishwasher's quiet operation and excellent cleaning performance. Many appreciate its ease of use and spacious interior, easily accommodating a large load of dishes. However, some customers have expressed concerns about the size and design of the utensil basket. The silverware may not always come out completely clean, and the basket's placement can sometimes be inconvenient.

Got this at a great price; cheaper than I could find it anywhere else. I've never been disappointed with a Whirlpool product. And this dishwasher is no exception. Dishes come out sparkling clean. And you can carry on a conversation right next to it. I was looking for a machine that's quiet. And this one definitely is. A huge improvement over our old GE (lower end) model. I'm completely satisfied with every aspect of this purchase. My only slight complaint would be the functionality of the silverware basket. I'm not a big fan of the in-the-door baskets. I realize they save space in the racks. But the "slots" you use to keep individual pieces separated are a bit of a pain to use. If you're adding a lot of pieces, it can be time-consuming to have to add each piece, one at a time. And the slots aren't wide enough for some of our larger-handled pieces. You can flip it up, but I'm not sure how well that would work either. Plus, the in-the-door style means you can't add silverware and dishes at the same time. You either have to add the silverware, then pull out the bottom rack, or the other way around. So again, a bit annoying. Our old machine just had the basket in the lower rack. So you could add both dishes and silverware at the same time. Much simpler. But again, these are minor issues. I would still buy this dishwasher again, given its other outstanding attributes. Just some food for thought....

Quality, Brand Reputation and Simplicity

Who really wants to shop for a new dishwasher? It is one of our little luxuries in life. With so many choices out there, how do you decide? Well, for starters, if you only remember one thing, remember this - know what YOU want your dishwasher to do and shop for one that performs THOSE tasks! There are so many brands and so many features (many that I find frivolous), that you have to shop for YOUR NEEDS! For me, I was looking for Quality, Brand Reputation and Simplicity...pretty simple requirements. I shopped and compared...oh boy, did I shop and compare! For what I was looking for - WASH, DRY, SANITIZE and NYLON covered rack surfaces - this was just right for the price! I don't care about the "eco" settings or even the "1-hour wash," "Over-night wash" or delay feature (although I have used this once or twice and it is pretty nifty!) :) The only difference between this one and the "Gold" version is the stainless steel tub - mine does NOT have this. I did NOT want it due to hard water and the staining that can occur in these, not to mention I have heard rumors they will melt any plastic or tupperware type items you put in there. Oh and the buttons may be on the top, but I didn't care about this.
I could not be happier with my choice and I compared MANY brands - some costing much more. My dishes are finally sparkling clean! I do use Quantum tabs, a liquid gel for pre-wash and a rinse aid. It is not totally unaudible but it is super quiet! We have a Kitchen/Family room concept (dishwasher about 10 feet from closest seating surface) and it is not a sound issue at all! Sure, you can hear it running, but it is not annoying at all. My two fish tank filters in the family room are louder - as a comparison.
Honestly, my ONLY con ~ I wish it could remember my choice of wash settings - Normal + High-Temp Wash + Sani-Rinse + High Heat Dry (see, told you I didn't care about the eco settings) - when a cycle is complete but I have to push these 4 buttons every time. Oh well! No real biggie.
Love it! Made the right decision - for me! Highly recommend!

I had no problems with this dishwasher other than the fact it was going into an old house and I needed some special fittings to hook up to the water supply. I suspect this would have been needed regardless of the manufacture/dishwasher. The dishwasher is quiet, holds a lot, and washes everything clean.

My wife is thrilled with the new dishwasher. It does a great job cleaning dishes and the unit is very quiet. It looks great and really upgraded the look of our kitchen. The full wash cycle does run longer than expected but I usually run it when I go to bed so it is not an issue. It does have a short cycle if you are in a hurry. I ended up installing it myself. Get the install kit. I did not need the power cord but the new hoses and clamps came in very handy. It is a great unit for the money.

Our previous dishwasher had a lot of miles on it and decided to give out. We shopped around and had picked one from Best Buy to for our new purchase. The salesperson was really friendly; knowledgeable and helpful. Once shown the choices we decided the Whirlpool was a better purchase for the price. We are pleased with this dishwasher, it is very quiet and the performance is great.

This dishwasher is simple to use and has basic functions. The utensil tray on the inside of the door is an added plus and can be moved to the lower tray instead. I was told it would be on the noisy side but this is not true at all. This unit cleans well and the price was right.

Bought this dishwasher on an out of the box special. Was able to buy the 3 year warranty. Installed it easily myself. Looks great. Is pretty quite and gets the dishes a lot cleaner that my old machine. Has plenty of features. I feel good about this purchase.
A:AnswerHi. Eco cycle is a cycle that is designed to use the least amount of water and energy as possible. The downside is that it can take up to eight hours of run time. The use, per the manufacturer, is where you start it and go to bed. And your dishes are ready for you in the morning. I can say that we have never had ours run that long. We have used the cycle when doing very lightly soiled dishes, etc. and it has worked well.
On the question of heat drying, yes, you can turn that option off. There is also an eco cycle for that as well, which takes less energy but doesn't dry as well. Hope this helps!
A:AnswerAll built-in dishwashers are basically the same size. They are designed to fit into a standard 24" wide by 34.5" high opening under the counter. Actual overall dimensions will vary slightly depending on manufacturer but it will fit in a standard opening. All machines have adjustable feet to level it if your floor isn't exactly level or your opening is slightly off from standard.
Newer models may be slightly smaller inside than your old one due to the added sound insulation on new machines but this will make your new machine much quieter!
You can get compact dishwashers that are 18" wide but I haven't seen one in a long time.
A:AnswerDear Customer,
We're very sorry for the confusion! These dishwasher racks will not be fully nylon, but will be nylon coated wire.

Unfortunately this dishwasher will not fit in the opening you have available. The cut-out height for this dishwasher, model WDF530PAYW, will need to be a minimum 33 7/8".

A:AnswerDear Customer:
When washing fragile items such as china or crystal in this dishwasher, model WDF530PAYW, we would recommend using the Eco cycle option.
