After much research on customer reviews on washing machines, we chose the Whirlpool 24" Gold Series machine over the Bosch (Bosch has weird slanted tines that wouldn't allow for easy loading of pots and pans and big plates). We ordered online since our Best Buy store didn't carry it in stock. When it arrived, we took it home to install it ourselves. We opened the crate and was surprised to see the bottom of the crate was wet.
Shrugging this warning sign off, we proceeded to install it and see what happened. Well, it wasn't good. First, the pump wouldn't prime. Once we got it to prime, the shut-off valve wouldn't stop so we had water flowing into the machine when it wasn't turned on. And then, once we finally ran a load, it would spray water through the side doors during the full wash cycle.
So, nightmare! We called Geek Squad to see if they could fix it but Geek Squad didn't offer assistance in our area. So, we uninstalled it and returned the defective item.
We decided to chance it and ordered a replacement for the defective machine. After all, it must have been returned in the first place and not marked "defective" being it was wet underneath the machine (com'on, how does quality control not notice that before packing from factory) and just "given" to us lucky people.
So, the second one arrived and, fingers crossed, we hooked it up. We threw water in the bottom of the machine off the bat to try to avoid any priming problems. We started it up and off it went!!!!!!! Practically jumped for joy. So far (one month later and many loads), there has been no leaking. I kept the bottom access cover off just to make sure. It is quiet but not so much that you wonder if it is working. I like it for that reason. Yes, it does take a loooooong time to do a load but with all the new "energy saving technology", that is the norm for machines nowadays.
It holds a lot of dishes to wash in one load, which is nice. I also like the silverware in the door because it allows more room for main dishes in the unit.
I would also like to note that we needed to move the wheels down on the unit to make room for the machine to slide underneath our counter top. What surprise me was while there were adjustment holes to adjust the wheels, the other holes were not tapped so when you screwed the wheels in, you were cutting thread the whole way, which was a trace difficult and not user-friendly.
Directions did jump around a bit, so we did have to flip pages back and forth to make sure we were installing it properly.
So, overall. I would say take a chance on it.

All in all, it's a good dishwasher. It's nothing great, just kind of meh, it does its job. The silverware tray is somewhat annoying, the stand up kind was better. There doesn't seem to be more room despite the tray being moved to the door, and it's lower to reach into. They say not to open it once you've started because it'll take a long time to heat up again. Who doesn't need to do that? They also told us to start running the hot water in our sink before starting the dishwasher to get it to 'hot' quicker. Ugh, the old cheap one didn't need these extra steps. It is quieter, it sounds like it's not doing its job, and when I asked the customer service associate why he said that all appliances are green now due to government regulations, and there are no more agitation cycles in anything... dishwasher, washing machine, etc. Sigh.. bring 'em back.

I was somewhat hesitant to purchase this dishwasher due to some of the negative comments but my wife wanted a Whirlpool to match the other appliances and convinced me. This was a replacement for our Maytag that lasted about 12 yrs, not great but seems average these days
First , we never put pots & pans in the dishwasher, so cannot comment on the struggles others have posted. We also have a septic tank, so tend to scrap off most food particles before putting the plates, etc, in the washer, Sounds like a few of the negative comments their plates go from table to washer, Not us.
Generally, this machine is very quiet, Most noise comes from the fill and drain cycles whch was expected. We've been using the Eco Wash, Eco Heat dry cycles, with rinse aide. The kids have commented on how the silverware and glasses sparkle compared to previous washer. Maybe that Maytag needed to be replaced sooner. There is some water residue on glasses/cups that have a ring on the bottom. No worries there for us as there aren't many of them.. Also, we have front loader HE clothes washer and leave that open after use to dry out. We do the same for the dishwasher, leaving door slightly ajar after unloading for a brief period. The Maytag washer door was also left open. Have not noticed the smell others have complained about. Besides the glasses with bottom rings, everything else is dry after eco cycle including the tub.
Space is plenty for our usage. Fits about 24 glasses / cups on top rack, more of you use the center row. We don't drink wine so can't comment on wine glasses, but a 6 inch tall beer mug fits perfectly. We can load about 10 full size plates on one side of bottom rack, with a mix of bowls and small plates on the other side. Bowls are a bit awkward, due to the straight tines but OK once you get used to it.
The main complaint is the utensil holder. The holes that are intended to separate them are too small to fit most of our knives, forks, etc. We tried flipping up the spacer, but that only led to to spoons sticking together. We eventually replaced with our utensil holder from the Maytag and all is well. We do lose room for one plate as this now sits on bottom rack but still at 10 plates, it's better to have cleaner silverware and not wrestle with adding them. I also wish it had a Rinse Only cycle like the previous one but we only used that a couple times per year so can live without it.
I can't say if I'd buy this again. Depends on how long it lasts. But given current performance, overall, I am satisfied with the purchase. This gets a 4 star because of the spacing of the utensil holder. Had we not kept the one from old washer, we'd be fighting this machine every day and that would trump the positive of the actual washing.

I bought this dishwasher to replace my leaking Maytag, but didn't want the top of the line because I am selling the house soon. I shopped online to read reviews, but went into the store to make my purchase. I don't understand what the complaint is about the utensil holder. It is mounted on the door and has holes that you put the utensils through so they stand up. It is a little awkward, but it is something you get used to or you can just flip lid and fill the basket. I do believe it cleans the utensils better when they are in the slots. This washer has a drying element and my dishes are completely dry when done unless the cup bottom has an area to hold water. The first time I turned it on, I actually had to walk over to stand by it to see if it came on. Super quiet! The inside is roomy and holds so much more than my old one and the stainless tub looks sleek. I would definitely buy this washer again. I thought I was buying middle of the road, but feel like I got top of the line. Instillation from best buy went smooth and the charge was 1/4 of the other big appliance stores. You will love this dishwasher!

This dishwasher was a great bargain. The price was reasonable for all it's features including the stainless steel interior and easy to use controls. It runs very quietly and the dishes sparkle after being washed. It has exceeded my expectations.

We've been waiting for our old dishwasher to break for a while. It cleaned dishes ok but was really, really loud. I can barely hear the new dishwasher while it's running. Cleans dishes great on longer cycles. We've noticed the 1 hour cycle is ok, I would only recommend this cycle if the dishes aren't too dirty. Silverware basket location is odd but does the trick. I've noticed hard foods sometimes stay on silverware. Overall we are very happy with our purchase.

We love this dryer. It's whisper quiet and gets are heavily used dishes clean unlike our old dryer. Many features and high capacity. Because it's a high efficiency dishwasher it takes like 6 hours to cycle through some of the cycles - no problem if you are in the habit of doing your dishes at night - but something to keep in mind. Bottom line, it holds a lot, it's quiet and the dishes come out spotless and clean. We really like it and would get it again.

This is the quietest dishwasher we've ever owned. It does a pretty good job of cleaning the dishes. We've run several loads through, all on sensor mode. My only real complaint is the silverware holder. It's pretty small compared to other machines we've had. The top has flip down silverware separators. The things you put the silverware in one at a time and it keeps it from spooning. Hardly any of our silverware has handles small enough to fit into the separators. So you have to be fairly careful loading the silverware to keep it separated. And I find we're sometimes doing the dishes because the silverware tray is loaded.
The only other thing which is more of an observation is that this dishwasher takes much longer to complete a cycle than our old one. Not really a big deal for us unless we have a lot of company over for a Thanksgiving dinner or something.
