In today's world it is more common than not to realize that all of the best comedic bits were in the trailer and the actual film is a painful disappointment. That's not the case with WHY HIM. The preview doesn't even scratch the surface of the experience that awaits. Great casting, great acting, and yes, the script is over the top, but the laughs come from out of the story, not jammed into it. Ultimately the message, and there is one, is of accepting differences, if those differences come from a place of love. There is lots of over-the-top cringe-worthy zaniness beyond even the most liberal of tolerant comfort zones, but check your eyes for tear drops during the final wrap up. No one is more surprised than I was by how much I loved this ride.

If you are a fan of James Franco, then you know his humor going in. What you don't know is how quirkily perfect the supporting cast is. Bryan Cranston, a perfectly befuddled father at every turn. The yin to his yang Megan Mullally tries to pull him into reality. Zoey Switch gives a very believable performance as the daughter at the center of it all. But scene stealer Keegan-Michael Key has created a comedic genius if a right hand man as Gustav. Like I said the plot has been beaten to death but this cast puts a believable new age twist to today's world. I gotta feel this becomes a cult classic in a few years.

let me start by saying that I HATE, HATE, HATE James franko!! I usually boycott movies he's in b/c I don't like his acting, I don't find him attractive, and I don't think he is funny!!! that being said.... this is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen! I have to hand it to him, he nailed it. it is not for kids though! it is inappropriate and raunchy. the cast is great. if u can't take an off-color joke, don't buy this movie. if u can laugh out loud and the craziest stuff u could ever think up... buy this movie.

The movie was okay.... I saw it in theaters and noticed Best Buy had it for like $7 so I bought it. It was funny but they went overboard with the vulgarity. Sometimes bad words and being inappropriate is absolutely hilarious but they were doing it and hoping that by doing it, it would be funny. Kinda like saying something kinda funny and then saying it 15 times in a row hoping the audience would find it hilarious because of the fact they said it so many times. Not because it was funny by nature.

This movie had gotten really good reviews. I was looking forward to checking it out. James Franco is one of my favorite actors. He has a really great range. But, this comedy felt as if it was trying too hard to get the laughs come naturally. Franco is perfect as the millionaire boyfriend. But, in my opinion everyone else seems miscast, like they are not even in the same movie.I was disappointed and Franco does not usually stear me wrong. I suggest skipping this.

I had heard about this movie and have liked the body of work of Bryan Cranston and Megan Mullally (She's not even mentioned on outer jacket.) as well as some of the fine supporting cast. (I have obviously omitted mentioning one of stars, James Franco, due to recent his harassment allegations, which was not newsworthy when I purchased this.) Very funny moments in this movie, which arrived very promptly from Best Buy.

I'm not sure where to start with this comedy. The theatrical trailers make it look way funnier than it actually is. In fact there are few laugh out load moments and more cringe worthy scenes. I'm not sure why comedies like these have to use the fbomb for every other word, even for adult comedies like this one. I will say it isn't unredemable however it comes during the last 10 minutes of the movie. Mediocre movie worth collecting once it hits the 5.99$ bin.

A close father/daughter connection is tested when she meets a quirky millionaire who has a totally different view of the world than her conservative father. The quirky fiance wins over the brother and the mother and has a hard time winning over the dad. Better than I thought and a movie which you can watch over and over. The mother is a Tina Fey look a like and I had to double take several times. Good movie to add to your collection
