An adoring dad (Bryan Cranston) is horrified to discover that his adult daughter (Zoey Deutch) is dating a tech billionaire who's a tattooed, party-hearty lout (James Franco). Despite the boyfriend's heart of gold and generous (if inappropriate) gestures of affection, the father refuses to warm to him -- especially once he learns that he's planning to pop the question. This was a light-hearted comedy that wasn't difficult to watch. It is edgy mostly due to the cursing, but it might be used to lay out to understand Franco's character. If cursing offends you, this may not be your cup of tea. If you can overlook that and get involved in the storyline and characters, this will be a hilarious movie. Keegan-Michael Key and James Franco's characters interact very funny in this movie. Cranston was very funny here as well. It's funny to see two completely different characters having to interact because of the daughter/girlfriend. If in the right frame of mind, this can be ridiculously hilarious! Hope I didn't drop any spoilers, cheers!
let me start by saying that I HATE, HATE, HATE James franko!! I usually boycott movies he's in b/c I don't like his acting, I don't find him attractive, and I don't think he is funny!!! that being said.... this is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen! I have to hand it to him, he nailed it. it is not for kids though! it is inappropriate and raunchy. the cast is great. if u can't take an off-color joke, don't buy this movie. if u can laugh out loud and the craziest stuff u could ever think up... buy this movie.
There is much to say about filthy rich technological billionaires, and this movie creates a character that is the foulest mouthed tech near billionaire ever. I tried not to enjoy it, but I couldn't help myself. It'snot great comedy, but its clever and funny Hollywood stuff. If reality was really this over the top. If I was the father of the daughter in this movie, I might be impressed that she is going to marry wealth, but a filthy-mouth rich man with a heart??? This is what makes movies fun to watch but impossible to live with in reality.
