Going Electric: A Step-by-Step Guide to Converting Your Gas Stove to an Electric Model

Head to wherever your electrical box is located to make sure that there is adequate amperage to accommodate an electric range. Electric stoves and induction ranges require between 20 and 50 amps to operate, so you might need to upgrade your electrical box before you go any further in your project.³ If you’re not sure about your electrical box amperage you may want to seek out hiring a professional electrician to determine if your current box will support the additional needs.

Next, you’ll want to ensure that there is an electrical outlet near your current stove that can support at least 220 volts of power coming from your range.
