A: The headphones are blue tooth. I know they connect ok with my chromebook, my pc, and my android phone using the blue tooth. I don't know about the i-phone.

A: These headphones communicate via blue tooth. I do not see any way they will work with infrared. The instructions (basic but ok) do not indicate any other way to use them.
