  • Key Specs
    • Drive Type: Belt drive
    • Operation Type: Manual (Automatic turntables move the tonearm into position to begin playing a record and remove it when the record is finished, typically with a single push of a button. Semi-automatic turntables require user interaction to place the tonearm inititally, but will automatically remove it after playback. Manual turntables require the user to place and remove the tonearm as needed.)
    • Integrated Preamp: false (An audio component that amplifies the turntable's audio signal to a level compatible for connection to a sound system.)
    • Cartridge Type Included: MM (Moving Magnet) (Phono cartridges translate the grooves in a record into electrical signals to produce sound. There are two main types: moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC). Generally, MM cartridges have a robust design and high output levels. MC cartridges have an inverse design of MM that is lightweight and more precise, but usually require a preamp to boost their lower output signals.)
    • Audio Only Outputs: 1 x Phono
    • Network Connector(s): No network connectors
    • App Compatible: false (The product can be connected to a program or software application on a mobile device, which then receives collected data from the product.)

    • Turntable Type: Component (All-in-one turntables have built-in speakers and an integrated preamp for optimal listening pwithout need for other device connections. Component turntables consist of the main turntable (may require separate purchase of cartridge) and require external connections before use. DJ turntables are digital devices with special features and sound effects intended for professional use.)
    • Turntable Motor Type: AC
    • Wow and Flutter: 0.0017 percent (Measures "frequency wobble" or the level of distortion caused by speed fluctuations typically measured at kHz. The lower the percentage, the better the player's ability to sustain proper pitch and avoid distortion.)
    • Speed Variation: 33/45 (The variance in platter revolutions per minute (RPM), typically asserted as +/- RPM. The smaller the variation in speed, the cleaner the sound and the fewer noticeable differences in pitch.)
    • Anti-Skate Mechanism: true (Keeps the tonearm in place with an opposing force, to prevent it from "skating" toward the center of the record and skipping or scratching during playback.)
  • Cartridge & Tonearm
    • Cartridge Type Included: MM (Moving Magnet) (Phono cartridges translate the grooves in a record into electrical signals to produce sound. • Cartridge Mount Type: Standard (1/2 inch) mount (The method that attaches the cartridge to the turntable.)
    • Cartridge Model Number: Sumiko Amethyst
    • Stylus Shape: Elliptical (A narrower contact radius produces better sound and reduces wear.)

    • Effective Tonearm Length: 9 millimeters
    • Tonearm Material(s): Carbon Fiber

    • Audio Only Outputs: 1 x Phono

The RPM 5 takes a lot of technology from its bigger brother the RPM 9 to make it a stunning sounding table. The carbon wrapped ultra low resonance carbon fiber wrapped chassis, the inverted platter with a ceramic ball bearing for low rumble, and an incredibly massive satinized acrylic platter create an acoustic powerhouse. Also using a solid piece of carbon fiber for the tonearm makes it have almost no resonance but gives ultimate flexability for an array of different cartridges. All in all an incredible table at a surprising price considering all the technology and materials used.

  • Chassis: This chassis is an ultra low - resonance design with a carbon-fiber wrapped MDP chassis.
  • Platter: The RPM 5 has a massive acoustically inert platter made from satinized acrylic. The platter sits on a inverted ceramic ball bearing for incredible low rumble creating incredibly accurate vinyl playback.
  • Outboard AC Motor: This ultra speed consistent AC motor is driven with a DC power supply to be perfectly smooth and consistent for perfect vinyl playback. As an outboard motor it sets in the plinth, but is isolated to further reduce any potential vibrations and noise added by the motor.
  • Tonearm and Cartridge: The tonearm is an EVO CC Carbon Fiber , which is fancy way of saying made out of a solid piece of carbon fiber. It is engineered to disippate any standing wave reflections. Carbon Fiber is a fantastic material that is both light, and very strong. Pairing that tonearm with an audiophile quality Sumiko Amethyst MM cartridge gives this table a massive edge to other turntables in this price point.
  • Upgradability: The RPM 5 is similar to most Pro-ject turntables in the fact it is very easy to upgrade. The tonearm allows for almost all MM or MC cartridge upgrades, and the table is ready to upgrade to a true balanced design. A balanced table negates any noise or distortion gained over signal paths to truly give you a perfectly authentic signal.
