Slate is an optically based material which allows it to reject up to 70% of ambient light. The screen optics are designed to only allow light from the direction of the projector. Allowing a quality projection experience outside of the dedicated dark room by rejecting ambient light that would normally tarnish color and contrast performance with a white or gray screen.
