Great Table for a Great Price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one superb tablet for the price. I bought 2 for my teenage grandchildren and they love it. It works great and there are plenty of free apps from google play store. The screen is easy on the eyes and the resolution is excellent. Overall you will have an impossible time finding another product in this price range that compares.

Great little basic tablet for the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You wouldn't confuse this with an ipad or even an ipad mini, but for what it is and what I expected, it more than met the criteria that I had. I have an ipad, ipad air, and ipad mini available to use and they are definitely smoother for web surfing and for the apps that I download, but I unfortunately I absolutely hate the itunes interface. This tablet is much easier for transferring files, such as pdfs, mp4s, avis, mp3s, etc. In fact, it is almost as simple as using a pc for that purpose. I just plug it into the USB and my pc automatically detects it as an external drive. I haven't really used it much for apps or games, since I have the ipads for that, but the few I have on there (angry birds, candy crush) run perfectly fine and smooth. I also have a 32gb microsd in there that allows me to store tons of pdfs, mp3s, movies, cbrs, and epubs. It also has bluetooth, which at this price point I thought was a nice plus. I pair it up with a decent set of bluetooth headphones for watching movies since the built in speakers aren't that good, volume and clarity wise. The screen itself is not bad, although resolution is only 1024 X 768. If you are looking for retina display quality, this won't cut it. The brightness needs to be brought up a little in broad daylight, although at a normal level I've gotten what I estimate to be around 7 - 8 hrs. of use on one charge. The camera is not even close to being useful, the pics I took on them came out grainy and somewhat blurry. It's only 2mp so the camera on your phone would be WAAAY better. Another thing, it's going to take some looking around to find a case for this. They don't fit in most normal sized ones. The tablet also has a border around the screen that is quite a bit larger than other higher priced tablets, as can be seen in the pics. it runs about an inch and a half all around. In all, definitely worth every penny to me, construction is solid, if you are looking for something to do basic reading, movie watching, and for simple apps, this will more than do the trick, and it won't break the bank.

Not One Problem
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Tablet was on sale for $79 and it is my first tablet. So for me there was a bit of a learning curve, as i do not have a smart phone, or anything else to have experienced a Touch screen with. (1)GET A 16GB or larger Memory card for this tablet i will stress GET A Memory card for this tablet, I have a 16GB and am grateful i did not choose to go smaller. (2)One of the first things i did was Uninstall all the unneeded Programs (3) I installed CC ( cra* cleaner) to remove all my unneeded data after each use VLC Media Player. It really Put Kick in the sound, making it, so i did not have to struggle to hear, what ever i am playing. I also found that by taking my tablet into stores to search for a Case that the tablet has a 4:3 size ratio that is not like many others. The screen display in Pixels is 960x720. And although i have not looked for an editor to make that exact size on the tablet, you can use any PC to edit the size of your wallpapers, there is ways to do it on the tablet but i found them not so easy (That could just be my learning Curve ) Overall this tablet has been strong and has no problems playing Video.(using VLC .... cause its way louder). The touch screen is really responsive. I LOVE MY FIRST NEW TABLET. I'm a bit behind in times but i really do enjoy it. P.S. Be sure to put some brain and skill games on it for when you don't have Internet.:)

great entry level tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this is the first tablet i ever purchased. bought it for $80. I got it because it featured android kitkat. the tablet is light. the screen is bright and colorful but of course the resolution is not on par with the pricier samsung models. but again this is an entry level tablet. i found it to be fast and reponsive. also the battery life on this tablet is excellent. im on it a couple of hours a day and it takes me around 2-3 days to use up most of the charge. if i had to point out a couple of bad things, it would have to be the following. first, i dont like that i have hold the power button on for several seconds for the tablet to turn on. the camera is also shoddy. quality of photos is like when camera phones first came out. also there are no fun filters or effects. its just a plain jane camera. lastly, the charge time. im not sure if i got a defective model but it takes forever to charge my tablet. once i had it charging for 15hrs and when i powered it on it was only at 85%! i charged it again and next check it was at 82%. how does it go down if its charging? lll definitely call insignia with these concerns. overall though its a good tablet for the price

Great Tablet for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an $80 quad core tablet running Kit Kat, Ver. 4.4.2 (Latest is 4.4.4), with built-in Wifi and Bluetooth. Although it has only 8 GB of internal storage, it has a micro SD slot in which you can add up to 32 GB of memory. Additionally, it has a micro USB slot which is primarily used to recharge the battery, but can also be used for data transfer. I've hooked up a 1 TB HD to this port and Kit Kat was able to access all the data. Kit Kat, however, is not the same as Jelly Bean so it tends to restrict access to the SD card and USB port. You might have to use File Manager to access data on these ports if the apps you are using are not Kit Kat compatible as was the case with Aldiko. However, once linked via the File Manager, Aldiko worked fine.

My 3rd and best tablet purchase so far.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these new 8" Insignia tablets to provide to students in a week-long class I just taught. I tested and set up the tablets for about a week and then the students used them for another week. No problems yet! Since it was a new product I was a little hesitant, but the sale price and features could not be beat! I found that this Tablet is a winner! Probably a game changer at this size & pricepoint. If I didn't already have a 10" and 7" tablet I'd buy one of these 8" tablets for myself ! The only drawback I found was that I had to download a PDF reader from the play store even though I'd read somewhere that PDF was supposed to be a native capability of this android version. In any case, the download was easy, and the PDF's looked great on the screen.

Excellent value, far exceeds expectations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Grabbed this tablet because i had reward certificates and a gift card to burn. I prefer the 8" form factor and this tablet just feels good in your hands. Its very snappy and responsive. Games and apps load quickly. Although this tablet lacks some features found on most tablets on the market today, it's an excellent value. I dont need an hdmi out or 8 megapixel camera and although dual band Wi-Fi would be nice, i don't miss any of them. This is a great tablet for what most users really need. Web browsing, email and casual gaming. Grab this tablet and you won't regret it.

Great everyday tablet.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After an exhausted search for a new laptop I decided on a tablet. I am so glad I purchased this tablet. Its exactly what I was looking for. Its great for web surfing, kids games, email, and watching videos. The price was great too only $79.99. This would definitely be a great purchase for anyone wanting a tablet but doesn't want to pay for a "name". On a side note, this is a best buy brand and a best buy employee tried to discourage me from this brand he even went as far as to say it was worthless and no good. How interesting that the tablet he did offer to sell me was the most expensive one. Love the product but I think best buy should look into their customer service department because its terrible.

Q: Questiondo I need wifi in my home to use thisI am new to this type of technology and I am 78 yrs old...is this for me
Asked by mslorrie.
- A:Answer Yes, you will need WiFI as that is the simplest way to get programs (apps) on the tablet. Otherwise you have to hook the tablet to your PC via USB cable and then transfer stuff etc.. versus just browsing the google play store app that is already on the tablet

- A:Answer It does have speech to text and you don't need a service provider to use it just a WiFi connection to connect to the internet but you can connect it to a carrier by talking to the Best Buy Mobile department.
