A: Hello! We actually designed the pre-filter and the HEPA filter to have virtually the same life so they are both replaced at the same time. We sell them as a set because of the filter life. The fabric sleeve acts as a large particulate filter and you will want to wash it occasionally (cold water, line dry). No need to replace the filter before it's time!
