Great solution for more components

I just needed a few more USB and HDMI connections, and this did the trick. The only down side I had was the HDMI from one of my monitors was not recognized. After swapping things around to have that monitor directly to the laptop, it worked alright. This DOES work for charging items! It's a plus I wasn't expecting.

Fits in bag great and the space grey color matches great with my space grey MacBook. I have used it on my iPad Pro also, but I did buy another one with power pass-through for my iPad, but this one does work with it.

This docking station allows me to connect multiple types of devices using the USB Type-C port. I particularly like that it has SD card inputs, as well as HDMI (and of course traditional USB ports). It is well made and does the job it was intended for.

This adds two much-needed USB ports and standard SD card input, as well as an HDMI port. My only wish is for an ethernet hub. I wonder if this station will also work with my thunderbolt 3 port since it fits perfectly - but I'm afraid to experiment! I couldn't find documentation to answer that question.

The Aluratek USB Type-C Hub expands USB 3.1 ports to two additional ports; it adds a HDMI port so I can connect to a TV or monitor; and it has SD card reader slots. The product has worked perfectly; plug and play!

Q: QuestionMy Alienware 17R4 and comes with 1 Thunderbolt 3 port and also 1 Type-C port. I see it states should be connected to an Type-C port, but I would like to know if I can plug it into the Thunderbolt port or if it may damage it. If so, would it be faster?

- A:Answer I don't believe it will damage the laptop or the docking station, however I think that only one of the ports will recognize the Aluratek Docking Station. My Lenovo T480 is the same way.

Q: QuestionI have a Surface Book 2 that I would like to extend the display on to an Acer XF270H monitor using the HDMI port on this hub. Should it work because I can't get it to connect for some reason?

- A:Answer I use this extender to run a second monitor for my Lenovo T480. It has worked just fine for me so far. There are settings you can fiddle with on the control panel application in "Hardware and Sound" then "Devices and Printers". The monitor Should show up there and if it does not, then it is not recognizing. I just took a look at the Surface Book 2 and noticed that there is only one USB-C connection port. I am assuming that it is used for charging. That could be why the computer does not recognize the extension. I believe that the charging port can only be used for charging but correct my if I am wrong. Hope this helps!
