Q: Do you have to use the cellular option
A: I don’t believe it’s required. You can still pair with your iPhone, but you can also get the option without cellular for a little less. (The red dot on the knob means it’s a phone one.) This option has cellular and 16 gb memory. I think it’s the top of line for Apple Watch right now. I’m still waiting for my delivery..
Q: How does the iWatch receive cellular service? Do I need to take it to my provider?
A: Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) delivers cellular connectivity independently of your iPhone but must share the same carrier. You can purchase it directly from Apple or Best Buy, both can activate it on your carrier.
A: If you’re not planning to use it as a stand alone mobile device you don’t have to activate it for that use.
