Q: is this modem supported by Cablevision? Can it receive a back-up battery (12 hours plus)?
A: Hey, Dave! The answer to your question is yes, this modem is compatible with Cablevision. As a matter of fact, I bought the ARRIS TM822R for that same reason. Cablevision began charging its customers for their modem and I have had it with them charging me a fee of $10.89 a month (that's $130.68 dollars a year). So I decided to buy my very own modem and not rent it anymore. As far as backup battery, this modem does not come with one included. But they are very inexpensive. Besides, I don't think you would be needing one, the power never goes down here in the city. The modem is easy to set up. Your web-browser will prompt you to enter your Cablevision account information, and to restart your computer at-least two times, after this, you should be up and running. The modem is fast; I've had it for a month now and I have no complaints. One last thing, don't freak out if at first your browser doesn't recognize that you have a new modem, just, restart your PC, and wait for all the lights on your new modem are solid green. If it doesn't happen, disconnect your computer and modem for 30 seconds and that should do it; begin your registering process (Your name, your modem model number, and account number, that's all they ask for). Good luck with your new modem! If you decide to buy it. ;)
Q: Is this mdoem compatible with Comcast cable and telephone
A: Yes I have xfinity in Colorado and it works great. Easy to set up and saves on rental fees
Q: Does it work for internet provided by Optimum
A: I have Cablevision optimum TV, internet and telephone service in Nassau County and I set this modem up yesterday and it worked fine. I disconnected the old modem, connected this one, then called their tech support. The tech support added this modem to my account and my TV, internet and telephone worked fine. I took the old modem to Cablevisions optimum store and returned it.
A: I just bought my own voice modem and during setup was told by Spectrum that they do not allow you to use your own modem for voice. This seems unfair, but that was the answer from their techs.
A: (Model # TM822R)100% working with Optimum services, I am using and so are my friends.
A: Simply call your cable provider and ask them to email you a list of compatible modems. I called Optimum and told them that I wanted to buy my own modem and avoid the perpetual $4.95 monthly modem charge. They sent me the compatible list and then I called them back with the serial number (MAC #) of the modem I purchased through Best Buy, and they programmed it into their system. Very easy. I went to best buy with pictures I took of my modem with my cell phone, and they checked which modem was most compatible on the list. Just beware that Best Buy will price match the modem if you can find it on-line at a cheaper price, ONLY if it is not a third person supplier.
Q: Does this modem have a phone jack as I have to have a phone service modem. Thank you
A: yes it does. this modem is whats called a telephony modem; meaning capable of bringing landline phone service.
Q: Does this have the CMAC # on the bottom just to know if it works with optimum?
A: It works with Optimum. Connect it first, then call Optimum with the CMac number. They will register the new modem and get it running.
