    Top Tier Monitor

I saw some reviews on Amazon about this stating that quality control was hit or miss, but the panel that I received worked flawlessly out of the box. Very small amount of edge bleed in one corner, nothing that I will ever notice while gaming. Reviews after receiving and one solid day of use. Pros: 144hz is insane when paired with GSYNC. I have a 1070 in my rig, had to tone down to High settings from Epic on Overwatch to get a steady 144FPS @ 1440p, but it is absolutely worth it. If you have a good rig and are still on a 60hz monitor, you are missing out. Literal butter is the only way to describe this. Colors are nice and vibrant. Next to my 24" ASUS run of the mill monitor, its hard to believe that I thought the whites I were seeing were actually white. Calibration wasn't too far off out of the box either. Response time is good, you aren't going to notice 4ms over 1ms in most situations. Overwatch/CS:GO are as fast as they need to be to make sure that you can make the plays you need to make. The build is very nice. The stand is sturdy, and the ergonomic features are great. Added bonus to have the 90deg rotation ability as well, since I play Eve and there are some scenarios where a vertical screen space makes life easier. Cons: To get the 144hz out of this ( I haven't touched the overclock to 165 yet, I need to look in to upgrading my rig to realistically accomplish this) you have to use DisplayPort. This is my first DisplayPort monitor, and any time you switch to a fullscreen game, or the resolution has to change, it isn't very elegant. I've seen odd artifacts, flickering on the monitor and the LED that is on the base, and a bit longer of a wait than what I am used to with HDMI. The payoff is well worth putting up with the small inconveniences though. This may also just be standard with DisplayPort , I am still getting up to speed on what is considered normal for it. The only other complaint that I have so far is how GSYNC and borderless window gaming don't seem to play well. If I click out of a BW game to my second monitor, the refresh rate drops to 60. 75% of the time, it will remain at 60 until I push the "turbo" button on the display to knock it back up to 144hz. I have seen this complaint on forums, and is probably just a software limitation at the point. Still doing some digging as to what the best solution is. But, again, the performance of this screen makes me not care about small stuff like this. Overall, I would definitely recommend this monitor. I have been considering a 144hz monitor for some time now, and couldn't be happier with my purchase.

I have (2) of these monitors replacing (2) Asus 24" VG248 monitors. Huge difference obviously, bright colors, clear, sharp, 144Hz overclockable to 165Hz, and luckily my monitor's BLB and glow are minimal so I have no real issues with the monitors. I play various games FPS, RTS, MMO, web development and programming which these monitors provide a great display, and occasionally watch movies. If you're in the market to upgrade from TN to IPS these are a great choice (also see disclaimer below). *** NOT A MONITOR ISSUE *** The one thing to note which from what I've researched and tested is these are G-Sync monitors and currently Nvidia drivers after 391.35 provide you with a nice BSOD for KMode Exception Not Handled. I'm still in the process of testing whether the issue occurs with G-Sync disabled, but one of the reasons you buy these monitors is for the G-Sync capabilities and if you have to disable it to play new games with the latest drivers just isn't acceptable. If you're not familiar with what G-Sync is you might consider other monitors or do some research on G-Sync to see if it's worth the extra cost. I do believe the issue is known and they are working to fix it, but as of 5 driver releases for EVGA cards I've seen no fix yet. All in all a great monitor and if you're looking to urgrade you won't be disappointed.

    Great Monitor but.....

I upgraded to this 2k 165hz refresh rate monitor from a 1080p 60 hz refresh rate monitor and at first I could not be any happier. The monitor comes setup. The controls on it are super easy to use. I overclocked mine very easily and the colors are vivid and ready to go straight out of the box. The change from my old monitor helped immensely in my gaming and it was like no experience I ever had before. However, after about a month and change of using this monitor I am starting to see slight things that I didn't when I first got this. I have a white line that appears on screen horizontally when playing certain games. It does usually go away on its own but it is distracting and annoying especially during intense gaming sessions. I just hope that with time it doesn't get worse. Although this may seem small to some people I feel for an $800 monitor this should not be happening. But other than that I do recommend this monitor because the pros far outweigh the cons.

Before reading the rest of the review, it is important to note that this is meant for nVidia graphics cards. If you don't use an nVidia card you are basically paying an extra $200 for nothing and you can save a lot of money by getting a comparable monitor with Freesync The response time and graphics quality are amazing. The 165 hz instead of 144 hz is just ASUS being overkill but I find it funny that they did that just to be slightly better than normal gaming monitors. It's IPS display is great, until they start making 4k IPS monitors that have refresh rates and response times this good, then this is your best bet for Multiplayer PC Gaming. If you only play single player games you could definitely go for a 4k monitor where response time is less important. I used to not believe that 60hz vs a higher refresh rate mattered that much, but I can attest it makes a huge difference. If you play Overwatch, Call of Duty, or really any multiplayer game you will just straight up be better at them. 11/10 stars but for real if you only play single player games I recommend just getting a 4k monitor.

    Best monitor I've ever owned

The down and dirty is that it is a very nice monitor, especially for the market it is going after, gamers. But, I would not pay the premium price of this monitor, if you are on the fence on the brand of your next video card, with AMD soon to release a new GPU. Freesync monitors are cheaper. If you are a diehard NVidia user and are also only going to run a single monitor setup, then the rest of this review will not pertain and I would give it 5 stars I give it 4 stars, ignoring cost, because of the placement of the monitor's buttons. They are on the right hand side, on the back of the monitor near the bottom. I knew this going in, but I didn't have access to one to really see what an annoyance this is. I would have preferred them to have been on the bottom of the monitor. It makes getting to them a pain with my dual monitor setup ( I can't move the other monitor to the left side, and would prefer not to). I use the buttons frequently, because I change the refresh rate back to 60 when I'm not playing a game. I also like to use a dimmer setting when I'm doing homework or reading on it. With this being a premium monitor that was designed for the gamer crowd, I can't imagine why they didn't think about how this inconveniences a dual monitor set up.

This monitor goes great with a gtx 1080 graphics card at max 1440p settings. I didn't think it was that amazing at first, but then I changed my display back to my 60hz 4k tv and was really annoyed at how hard it was to run games smoothly. With the Gsync of the monitor and high refresh rate you really don't ever have games play choppy. The game controls when playing on the monitor don't lag like with a tv when the graphics card is under 60 fps. Gsync Works great and this is a resolution a gtx 1080 can play at without dialing in the perfect settings. You just select high or ultra, and play. But, some customers have bad backlight bleeding. I don't normally notice those things but mine had some of it too. However, my backlight bleed was small enough that when dark scenes were shown it wasn't in your face trashing the scene, and I would have been stingy to return the monitor for that.

    Fantastic Gaming Monitor

I gave a lot of thought between this and the comparable Acer predator. Based on my research and testing the Asus is your best bet, same panel, but the stand and overall construction of the Asus is far above the Acer model. Using the monitor controls it was very simple to overclock to 165hz, and see amazing performance in game. Using 2560x1440 @ 165Hz, I was at max settings in Overwatch w/ a render % of 75. This was giving me the desired frame rate and exceptional quality. In order to pull these settings I also upgrade my video card to a Asus ROG Strix 1080. If you are on the edge or are just not sure, if you have the cash it is a great option and a wonderful purchase.

No dead pixels, No backlight bleed, But.....

I guess I was one of the lucky ones and got a perfect IPS panel but I'm afraid I have to return it. I've been playing on an Asus VG248QE 144Hz 1ms monitor for the last 2 years at least. My problem with this PG279Q is motion blur and in 2-3 BF1 maps I get some jitter. My system specs are up to snuff and I get 90-110 FPS across all BF1 maps. This monitors 4ms response time just doesn't cut it for me. I can't justify spending $800 just to go from a 24 inch to a 27 inch monitor and have my gaming experience ruined. I've read the reviews that said there is next to no difference between 1ms and 4ms response times. Well, I sure can see it. I really wanted to like this monitor but the motion blur killed it for me.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend
