Great productivity/gaming laptop. Phone Webcam :D
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I really think this laptop is the most well rounded laptop. It has long battery life. There are many built in conveniences both hardware-wise and software-wise. Most importantly it is a good value for the price. I would recommend this laptop to someone who doesn't have a console and is looking for an all in one gaming/work portable system. When it comes to the battery life, I believe it requires a bit of tweaking, but you can get up to 9 hours of streaming videos, web browsing, and productivity tasks. I set my Armory Crate (included software) to Silent and set Windows to battery saver mode. Then, I got 9 hours of battery life with rgb set to blue (255), green (255), and Red (0) to low and the brightness to like 50%~. So ya, I would say kudos to battery life. As to hardware, I know a lot of people complain about no webcam. However, there is built-in software for that. In the included MyAsus app there is a Shared Cam app, you connect your phone and then it becomes your webcam. I mean my phone has a 1080p camera opposed to most 720p cameras included in most laptops and I am pretty sure a vast majority of people's phone's cameras are at least as good as mine if not better . . . I used it on zoom and discord no problem (but you need good internet connection . . . The greatest hardware advantages are that it has a huge trackpad and it has a fingerprint reader. The trackpad can be programmed with "advanced gestures" to pause/play, play next/previous songs. I swipe four fingers to skip or go back a track, I tap four fingers to pause. I have all the multimedia control I need. The fingerprint reader is so convenient. Out in public with a mask I could unlock with windows hello via my finger upon boot. Ya, I am lazy. The internal specs allow you to play any game out there today at 1440p 60fps ggez. I am not a digital art creative type so I cannot speak to the rendering times etc. The software I touched upon. There is single zone rgb control and the color hue is unique its really vibrant. Uh, the battery can be limited to charge to 60%, 80% or 100% via the MyAsus App. The BIOS updates itself no need for a flashdrive. Auto updates are simple and convenient. Uh, there are five power modes Windows, Silent, Performance, Turbo, and Manual. There are tons of controls in the Armory Crate to customize this laptop to your hearts content. You get both AMD and Nvidia with this so its cool to have stuff like freesync and Gsync. The built in monitor will be using gsync no MUX, but the dGPU can be shut off completely on battery mode automatically to get that long battery life~. Sorry for rambling because software-wise there is a ton and I am quite scatter brain thinking about it, but you don't have to tweak anything, out of the box this thing runs fine. TL;DR I really think it's a good value laptop on sale especially for like ~$1,550. No other laptop will give you a nice software for your own camera (I only have 1080p and I know at least it does 1080p); convenient software updates; a color accurate, high refresh rate, low response time panel; 9hrs battery; RGB keyboard, big trackpad, fingerprint scanner, nice internal specs, great thermals for the sale price of ~$1600 plus tax. If it were not on sale the ~$1850 is still a pretty good deal. So, in my opinion if you are looking for a good gaming/productivity laptop this is it.

VERY GOOD MACHINE!! (One small gripe)
||Posted .Owned for 9 months when reviewed.I would be perfectly comfortable giving this 5 stars, but i have one gripe. The "W, A, S, D" Keys have all broken and fallen apart. Also the paint scratched off them within the first 6 months. Otherwise the machine runs great, and is more than strong enough for every game I have ever thrown at it, with top settings enabled. I'd simply chalk this up to wear and tear.... but I have had 4 gaming laptops so far, and this is the highest quality one.. and the ONLY one to do this. Even my HP keys are all still perfectly intact and readable. And this is a much more high end, expensive machine than that.

Slim Beast that doesn’t like to be touched.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Powerful, slim laptop with a gorgeous display. The cons that everyone knows or speaks about is the RAM soldered to the board, making it unable to be swapped. Issues I’ve had where i found a remedy are the touch sensor (placed in power button for those who don’t know) doesn’t work as intended, and the laptop randomly shutting off when fullt closed, connected to s monitor. The fixes are simple and can be seen in the pics. 1. Touch sensor, gently, i mean very gently, no pressing, lay your finger horizontally across the power button, it will unlock instantly (hopefully). Works 9/10 times for me without asking for PIN. 2. When gaming connected to a monitor, the laptop randomly shuts off fully. FYI heat is not the issue, as its dones so when temps haven’t passed a mild 75°. Looking up the issue, I haven’t found anyone to pinpoint why it shuts off, but keeping the laptop open seems to fix the issue. Cyberpunk, the Division as pictured ran for hours with no shutdown as long as screen was open. PS. I went thru ALL settings to make to turn off any sleep, rest, or shut off features while laptop is plugged in. It still would randomly shut off if lid was closed.

Great laptop, Great price, and Low Gaming Temps
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. For the price this was a great purchase for me. I ended up finding it as an open box item at the Clearwater Florida store in Excellent condition for 1,100. It was also the back-to-school tax free weekend. Mine came with Windows 10 on it, but I upgraded it for free to Windows 11, installed all the updates, Drivers, and so far, it's been an awesome laptop. The laptop doesn't get that hot even while gaming, but the power brick does get extremely hot. The idle GPU temps are 35 to 37 and while gaming it is 58 to 62. The idle CPU temps are 44 -48 and while gaming 55 to 65. Overall, these are great temps for such a compact gaming laptop. I can run pretty much every game out there at max settings such as BF 2042, COD Vanguard, Assassins Creed Valhalla, Elder Scrolls Online, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The laptop was purchased as a gift for my Fiance since I have gaming desktop already and a Series X console.

It's like your first love. Mixed feelings around.
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This laptop is a great example of a balance between a portable laptop on the go and a great powerful beast for gaming/ heavy workloads. The thing it isn't perfect with possible major flaws. Like your first love in school with your girlfriend/boyfriend, you may find great things but uncover the bad after being deeply together after a while. Ill list the Pros and Cons since there is a lot to cover. Pros: 1. The design is good with a great metal feel on the lid and a trackpad that is similar to the Microsoft Surface. The device is very portable and the charger is really compact with not a lot of weight. I usually carry my laptop to worksites once a week and it is barely noticeable. 2. Great battery life. Able to get around 6 hours on ASUS silent mode with mix office work and Teams conferencing. 3. Great gaming performance all around. Time Spy hits average 9723 while Firestrike hits 22359 benchmark score. These scores in comparison is about 12% slower than an RTX 2080 desktop with an i9. For gaming with an external monitor I was able to get 90 FPS average on Ultra 1080P with GTA 5, COD Warzone at max setting 1080P no raytracing was averaging about 80 FPS, FF15 with hairworks off on ultra 1080P was getting about 88 FPS average. That is great results for a 4 lbs. laptop as most laptops can't even come close to these results. 4. The built in 2k screen is fast and colors are almost as accurate as my external 4k monitor. Still needs to be calibrated for actual color work related tasks but for most gamers this should be a fine great panel. 5. Low power draw is something that people really don't mention since I guess people just don't pay for electricity? This laptop has an average power draw of about 130 Watts when gaming which makes it very attractive for people who don't want to spend a lot on utilities for people who want to be more environmentally conscious. Could also be a good option for hash mining if you live in an area that has low electric costs but I can't confirm since I don't mine. Cons: 1. When using it as a workstation connected to 2 monitors with the lid closed, the device will go to Sleep when pushing the CPU/GPU which indicates an overheat. The temps seem to be fine when I monitor (hits around 87 C on CPU and 82 on GPU) but it seems that there is something that is baking inside that forces it to sleep. I was able to remedy this issue by using a cooling pad and adjusting the laptop fan curve to be a lot higher that what it supposed to be. This is a disappointing one since with the Dell and HP I used to own, I would just have to use a cooling pad in the workstation area and it would work with no issues. 2. Speakers are alright. It has good sound but sometimes on bass, it will have a very light pop noise. Kind of annoying for an expensive laptop of this caliber. 3. I know this doesn't have a webcam but it is annoying to lug a webcam around to when using it for Teams conferencing. Yes I know most laptop webcams suck but it's better than no webcam and ASUS could have change the game by adding a good webcam similar to my work loaned Microsoft Surface. The kicker is that ASUS feature their "amazing noise canceling" mic which is decent but not a replacement for a dedicated mic. What's the point of adding a mic to the laptop if there's no webcam..... 4. Minor issue of one 8 RAM module being soldered to the mainboard which means max upgrade is 24 GB of RAM (16 GB dual channel + 8 GB single channel). For an enthusiast gaming laptop, this is slightly disappointing and will dissuade some customers who need 32 GB of dual channel RAM for heavy workloads. Overall this is a good portable laptop with great performance in which to be honest will fit with the majority of people use case. There is a much darker picture I have to paint though. Questionable QC is my concern since I actually exchanged the laptop with the same model. The previous laptop had random blue screen issues when on battery power and had a really bad blown out right speaker that would pop and scratch during certain noises. Since this laptop is a new design for ASUS, I would recommend to test every feature of this laptop since there is a chance of possible defects. Since I tested what I could on this second laptop and seems to be fine, I will be keeping this for many years to come.

Phenomenal editing laptop
||Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.Absolute beast, couldn't be happier. I solely use it for video editing on DaVinci Resolve Studio. And still never go over 40 percent of it's ram. Make sure to install the Nvidia studio drivers on their website, will make it run like butter. Even though the monitor is only 1080p, I often will edit 4K videos and it comes out incredible. I'd recommend buying a cooling pad, just to help it whilst it's chugging. Also recommend a USB tree to make more plugins available as there's two USB and one type c connector. Only thing that I've noticed is the battery lasts about 4 hours while editing and 4K. But just plug it in and you're good, after plugging it in, it will automatically go into turbo mode to keep it cool

Overheats and crashes, but options can fix it
||Posted .Owned for 1 year when reviewed.Nice desktop replacement, I use a USB-C to DVI converter to connect to an ultra-wide monitor. This causes the laptop to overheat and restart, so I have to open the Armoury Crate app to disable overclocking and enable the fan. More ports would be nice.

PHENOMENAL!!
||Posted .Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This laptop is is amazing. The power is perfect. I love the look. Everything about this laptop feels premium. I love how Asus' Armory Crate has shortcuts that allow me to launch a game just from right clicking on the desktop. Never need to open up steam or any other gaming service. It also has a balanced mode that will turn off the discrete graphics and run on the integrated graphics when you're not doing anything demanding to help save on battery life. I've had this laptop for about a year now and I'm just as happy with it as the day I got it.

Q: QuestionIs the GPU a 3070 Max P or a 3070 Max Q?
Asked by NiaC.
- A:Answer This will be a max-Q according to the asus website, with 80w on tap and 20w available via dynamic boost.
Answered by Jess
Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between this and the Strix G15/17? what is the difference in clientele?
Asked by JaredH.
- A:Answer The Strix brings per-key RGB, robust cooling, aggressive aesthetics like clear plastic and sci-fi trims, added lights, 300hz FHD configurations that sacrifice color accuracy, and more control over internal components like RAM and Storage expansion. That means the Strix is pure performance, with plenty of flash. The G15 brings Apple like polish and refinement while packing in enthusiast level performance. The speakers, screen, keyboard, trackpad, chassis and internals are top notch, but understated. It's all tied together with long battery life in a small package. I'd prefer to go under the radar when bringing a laptop out in public or to a business meeting, but I don't want a typical 'business' laptop.

Q: QuestionIs one of the RAM soldered on like previous Asus laptops or are both upgradable?
Asked by Sdrib.
- A:Answer It has 8GB soldered and 8GB from SODIMM. You can check it here with the same model. You can have at most 40GB but will loose some dual channel performance. https://www.excaliberpc.com/configurator/configure.html?id=749308#gallery-2

Q: QuestionDoes this unit have an extra slot to add another SSD drive? Been very hard to find this information confirmed anywhere.
Asked by Markus.
- A:Answer Yes, this model has 2 M.2 SS slots. It ships with one M.2 NvME SSD installed. The second slot is available for a second 2280 NvME SSD. According to the service manual available for this model (GA503QR) on Asus' website, both M.2 slots are only compatible with M.2 2280 NvME drives (not M.2 2280 SATA drives). Attached are screenshots showing this in more detail--from the service manual available for this model, on Asus' website.

Q: QuestionAre the rumors true about the mobile RTX 3070 (such as the one in the ASUS TUF Dash F15) performing similar to a 2070 Max-P or 2080 Super? I've pre-ordered but might wait for reviews before opening.
Asked by NewbieEnthusiast.
- A:Answer Very hard to tell at this point. The 3070 Mobile can be configured for 80-125w in laptops, the 80w version is slower than last gen mobile 2070 MaxP and 2080Super, the 125w varient is faster. It will come down to clocks on the 3070 Mobile, i'm expecting this Model from asus GA503QR (3070 Max Q) to have boost clock of 1410 (up from 1290 on the 80w varient of this card). I hope the real world boost is close to 1500mhz. Will have to wait to see. If this is the 80w 1290mhz varient, then it's going to be a 3070 in name only and frankly most of us are going to be disappointed.

Q: QuestionDo we have a definite answer on the soldered RAM amount yet? Really hoping it's 16GB soldered, but afraid it's only 8GB like last year's G14. If it's 8GB, it's a monstrously epic fail for ASUS--even at this price.
Asked by HopefulBuyer.
- A:Answer I just took mine apart to upgrade to 2 2TB NVME drives and can confirm that 8GB soldered and 1 Samsung 8GB ram module.
