New to AndroidPosted .
The ASUS ZenFone Max has worked as represented by the sales representative. It has worked successfully. My issue is about learning Android as I had previously had Windows Phones, and so was use to the way those apps functioned and the link back to my Windows 10 PC. However, after searching on line about the Google Store Apps, including the new apps provided by Microsoft for Android, I'm becoming more comfortable with the functionality, especially the camera capability. So I'm becoming much more comfortable with the ZenFone and glad to have this. Especially as it is also very reasonably priced. Also it was recommended to get a case, and found a rubberized case online that works well. Although still disappointed that Microsoft has stopped supporting the Windows Phone.I would recommend this to a friend

Works great for the money.Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.
Everything works just fine. If pictures are your most important feature you might not be too happy. I replaced a Moto G5 plus that went swimming on a river float and it took better quality pictures.

Low price, ASUS Android is tough to configurePosted .
If you're buying this phone at this price, you're looking for compromise. And that's what you get. The camera is poor, borderline unusable. There are lots of artifact and ghost images. Basically if anything moves when you take the shot, the photo is unusable. Now go outside and try to find a few seconds when *nothing* is moving. So it's not a camera. ASUS modify Android to gain battery life and durability, but the options they provide are poorly organized and often conflicting with each other. It can be a total pain to actually use any of the battery-extending options without disabling your phone. For example, multiple conflicting/competing options to spare precious battery lead to effectively disabling your phone ... phone calls don't come through (certainly not what anyone wants), text messages don't come through (not what anyone wants), App updates can't download even on a Wi-Fi network (definitely not what anyone wants). There are some good ideas from ASUS for extending battery life/durability, but they are so poorly executed, with no clear hierarchy of options and impact, that the only way to actually have a somewhat functional phone with real-time messaging and communications Apps is to disable all battery-saving options. So .. unfortunately with this phone, you get what you pay for. And you don't get a camera. And you don't get a battery-saving phone. You may get a battery-saving device of unknown usefulness, but it's certainly not a reliable phone/communications device. You may get lucky and stumble upon a configuration of all of their jumbled and conflicting options that actually saves some battery. It took me about 1 month. Good luck with that. But if you text or WhatsApp or Slack me ... don't expect a speedy reply -- I won't even see your message until the moment has passed. No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My iPod replacement!Posted .
I purchased this phone to replace my iPod Classic! This phone has removable storage up to 2TB (2TB!!!!!) I was able to insert my 512GB micro SD card and have my entire music library of 427GB on one device!! I downloaded Blackplayer music player from Google Play Store at a small fee and was able to customize Blackplayer to my liking in many different fields and user interface - Bp allows for cover art and metadata customization too! I deleted or disabled all the bloatware and stock apps on the Asus Zenfone and only kept the Wi-Fi enabled with a few other features - I keep it in airplane mode and turned back on the Wi-Fi . . . Long battery life and sounds great for a phone - mind you, all the music files are mp3 or compressed or unprotect AAC files; so no Hi Res files and they sound just as good as the iPod Classic! Some cons tho . . . I have purchased every case they sell on Amazon for this phone and hate them all - sharp edges or too flimsy - I have yet to solve the gym / mountain biking arm band situation (maybe just keep using the iPod?) . . . But at least I have all my music on one device - it is Android and if you are a music streamer you can obviously do that too - I prefer to own my music vs leasing it - plus I don't have to worry about download this or that before leaving the house or going down to the subway! Discovering this phone and the beauty of Blackplayer music player is a big middle finger to Apple and iTunes!!! My only other choice was a new Apple iPhone at 12 times the price of this phone - which this phone works wonderfully at 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage with a whopping 2TB removable storage - I downloaded widgets to have volume control on the home screen and in the notifications - Blackplayer has it's own equalizer as well as the phone but it's not very good compared to Bp . . . I tried several DAPs before this phone and other phones - I did a Sony walkman nw-a45 that was useless and horrible UI and a HiBy R6 and R3 that was a complete waste of time and money (All three over 200 plus dollars) - I tried a Sony Xperia 10 phone using the Sony stock music player that was not customizable . . . I even did the Asus Zenfone Live 1 (which was great and on sale for 59 bucks) but was only 1 GB of RAM and sort of slow with the album covers . . . Returned it and got this Asus Zenfone Max Plus on sale for 160 and it has been a blessing! Now if could just solve the armband situation!I would recommend this to a friend

Good International Travel PhonePosted .Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.
A good phone. Not super great, nor fast, nor high end, but good enough, especially if you don't Put too many apps on it. Photos are adequate, but not stunning. But what sets this phone apart is its two sum card slots and a MicroSD slot too. This makes it a great travel phone, since sim1 is your main (US number and service) and sim2 is for your overseas Sim card, for cheaper local texting and phone calls and data plans. Plus put a 256GB MicroSD in there, and set the camera to offload all photos and videos to free up internal memory, and you have a really useful device. And it's a lot cheaper than most stuff out there.

Great phone all aroundPosted .
Alright, I feel badly because I gave an earlier review with only 3 stars. The phone did not deserve that. I kept getting ads whenever I unlocked the phone. Blamed it on the phone, but the problem was an app that I installed. Got rid of the app, problem went away. Worst part is, I really like the app. Anyway, the phone is easy to use, once I found a few built in apps that are really necessary, but were a bit hidden. Had to get used to doing things a little different from the last phone (like screen capture and editing photos), but that's to be expected when you change brands. This phone has double the internal memory of my old phone (32GB vs 16GB), so that helps. Overall it's a good phone.I would recommend this to a friend
Q: QuestionCan this phone be used on Boost Mobile's network? I heard Boost is a carrier for Sprint's network by a Best Buy CSR and is supposed to be compatible but in the description it says can't be used with Boost. Which is correct. Thank you.
Asked by Angel.
- A:Answer It is not compatible. Boost Mobile uses a CDMA network and requires CDMA compatible phones. This phone is GSM compatible.
