Q: Can this unit be removed without damage to the vehicle interior? (for example after lease return)
A: You will have to discuss with the installer but in most cases, they simply remove the existing overhead lamp and install over the existing hole with the existing cable. The only thing to be aware of would be the fact that after three or so years of the player being installed, there may be some sun discoloration/difference between the covered section and the rest of the headliner.
Q: Is this installed into the vehicle by the Geek Squad?
A: The DVD player can be installed by Geek Squad or Best Buy personnel, but our experience was bad. We could have had it installed by another 3rd party if wanted. Unfortunately, we were stuck at the local Best Buy while the installation was completed for five hours. Wouldn't have been as bad as it was if it was just one of us, but there were six of us waiting. We were told that there was some difficulty getting our van's automatic door button cover off/on (they actually cracked it) and some other issues. Best Buy asked us if we wanted the overhead panel fixed (of course we do!) and that they had insurance for mistakes like this. We are still waiting for Best Buy to get the part from Toyota! It's been 4+ weeks now. To give them some credit, they have contacted us twice in that time: once to ask if we wanted to take $200 toward fixing it on our own, or keep waiting. The second call was to say they were still waiting on the part. I am sure the fix is more than $200 and Best Buy was hoping we would take the money and run (away). But we are still waiting. But that's our experience. I am sure the technicians skill varies at the different store locations.
