A: This unit only requires a TV.

A: I don't think there is anything special to do. In Chicago my understanding is there is only one vhf channel. CBS. This channel has always been hard to pick up with indoor antenna. What has worked in the past with other antennas was to run the auto tuner feature multiple times while holding it in different positions. That may work with this product, unfortunately i haven't tried it yet with this antenna.
A: Yes, it will because it works digitally with the tv. As it moves from station to station a sync shows up for that station.
