A fairly accurate view of Bessie Smith and the trials and racism against black performers in the 1920-1940's. Should be seen by everyone interested in how black music has evolved from African rhythms to jazz and blues music to R&B, hip hop, and rap. A good historical perspective.

This is a great movie. Queen Latifa is great Actress and we love watching her in movies and when she performs. My nana told me about this movie cause I didn't even know what it was about. This is a great movie and would recommand this to anyone especially music lovers.

This was a decent movie Queen Lateef s' performance was excellent but the movie did not tell the whole story. They skipped right over the tragedy of her death and the way she died, I fell that this was important to her whole story.
