I really like the phone, and one of the reasons is because it's very petite. Not too small but just right!

Got this phone for my father who was traveling to South America. I know it's not the best unlocked phone on the market, but did what i needed to do. My dad had no issues getting it connected overseas or here in the U.S. (GSM Carriers Only) If you looking for a cheap unlocked phone this is it.

Big bang for the Buck on BLU VIVO 5 MINI Phone

I purchased this because my wife lost her cell phone, so I had to purchase another. Both of us don't use it much, but have it for convenience and possible emergency uses in a wilderness setting. We mostly only use it for calls or to check the expected weather conditions, and other than this, I don't use it for the internet except for updates to the software. I got the new one as my wife wanted my old one because it was the same model as she lost and she liked that phone. I found that having this "open" phone, I could use it on the same T-Mobile (that I have been on for the past 17 years) by purchasing another sim card from T-Mobile. One problem I encountered was that this one used a "micro sized sim card" while my old phone had the "mini sized sim card", so I wasn't able to just swap sim cards to transfer the data (phone numbers, etc). Not a big problem, but lots of time consumed. The old mini sim sized card did not have the perforations to choose what size of sim card you would "punch out" of the T-Mobile sim card like the new sim card has. The setup was easy, but one thing I found out is that the Android system on this phone does NOT allow you to uninstall the "preinstalled apps" from Google, but only allows you to "delete them" from being displayed on the screens. I don't intend to use those apps, but they still take up a lot of memory space on the phone, which leaves very little space (3.74 GB of 8 GB total memory installed) for you to install apps of your choosing. Unless there is a "new" way to install apps on your SD card and use that space (which previously was unavailable for the system to run apps from the SD card), your hands are tied. For my purposes, I can get by, but for those of you looking to store/run a large amount of apps, you'll have to look at the 3.74 GB you have to work with in the internal storage memory "actually available for your use" of the listed memory of 8 GB! Compared to my last phone, the volume can be raised a lot higher than both of my previous phones, and is more sharp and crystal clear, which makes it much easier to hear in noisy conditions. Like the older phones, this one also gobbles up the battery life (in a matter of hours) when it is on and unable to connect to a cell tower for service as it is always searching for a signal. With a signal, always on (24/7), and little actual usage by me, the battery goes for slightly over a week between recharges. The screen is magnificent in sharpness, colors, and intensity so one can make the screen bright enough to use in direct sunlight ... both of my other ones did not come close to this, and the controls for brightness are easily accessible in the drop down menu. Also note that the "description of the specs" state that there is a max speed of 3G LTE on the frequencies listed, but the phone shows that I am on a 4G LTE connection on the T-Mobile and AT&T cell tower sites that I usually connect to. Whether or not the phone is actually able to use the 4G LTE connection speed, I can't say as this is beyond something that I can accurately measure. Overall, it's a big bang for the low amount of dollars spent ($64.26 w/tax), and I just want a phone that's reliable and works as a telephone as I have tablets and laptops for the "bigger apps".
