  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: false (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Heated drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)

Q: Can the controls program the start of the machine with the door open? Due to granite counter tops, I cannot access the top of the door controls with out the door open.

A: Actutally, you can only operate the controls with the door open! They are not accessible when the door is closed, granite counter tops, or no!

Q: Is the filter self cleaning ?.

A: No, the filter is not self cleaning.

Q: Does it beep once or keep beeping when the cycle finishes? If it keeps beeping, Is there a way to turn off the beeping other than come over physically and turn it off?

A: Yes, it beeps and, yes, you can adjust the beep or turn it off. Check the card that comes with the dishwasher--it tells you how to do this. (Trust me--you won't figure out how to do it on your own!)

Q: Can you lock the controls on this unit when it is not in use. IE child lock

A: Yes, there is a button that prevents anything from happening. Our 4yr old has tried and failed to get it washing!

Q: can't seem to find the Dishwasher kit to order along with the appliance purchase of Bosh Ascenta 24 Tall Tub Built-in model SHX5AV2UC White color. Please advise...

A: The part you need is Model: 5304504505 SKU: 5146600. This is a generic install kit the will work for most dishwashers. It is the one I used for the same model you are asking about. You can order it online or pick it up in store.

Q: Can I open the door during a cycle. Bosch 100 series. Top control

A: Yes, you can open it at any time during a wash, but you have to hit the start button again before closing it. One cool thing is it shines a red light on your floor while it's working. If it's paused because you opened it, the red light blinks.

Q: Does this dishwasher have a short wash cycle? Does it have an extra rinse option? Also, can you delay the start, and if so, what is the maximum number of hours you can delay it? I don't see a way to closely view the top control panel. Thanks

A: Hi lanagia. Thank you for your question. Model SHS5AV55UC has a Speed 60 Cycle, a 9 hour Delay Start and a Rinse Cycle. the Rinse Cycle is used when you won't be starting the dishwasher for a day or two. Our dishwashers have many sensors which know if the load needs additional rinsing.
