  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: false (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Condenser drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)

Q: This model says it has condenser drying; What is condenser drying and how does it work on this model Bosch dishwasher?

A: Hi JULIANEAGLE, thank you for your question and interest in Model:SHEM78ZH5N. The final rinse uses high-temperature water to make the dishes very hot. The stainless steel tub of the dishwasher cools faster than your dishes because stainless steel cools faster than glass and porcelain. Condensation occurs when the moist air in the dishwasher comes into contact with the cooler stainless steel tub, and turns into water droplets. These water droplets trickle down to the bottom of the dishwashers and are drained. Since it’s a closed system with no fan, the cleaning process is more sanitary. With no exposed heating element, plastic utensils and dishes placed on the lower rack will not melt. The use of rinse agents, such as Jet Dry®, aids the condensation drying process by reducing the surface tension of water. This in turn allows the water on your dishware surfaces to run off more freely, so they dry better.

Q: Does SHEM78ZH5N have front controls like the image shows or top controls like the description says?

A: My SHEM78ZH5N has top controls. I believe other models have front controls. We've been running ours for a year now. Exceptionally happy with it, and it's super quite.

Q: Is there a child lock function?

A: Hi, thanks for your question and for your interest in model SHEM78ZH5N. This dishwasher does not have a child lock feature, but it is equipped with a function that helps to prevent unintentional operation by children. After starting a cycle, the dishwasher door has to be closed within 4 seconds, otherwise the operation will be paused. There will be a signal on the control panel advising you to press the Start button again and close the door. If you have additional questions, feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team at 800-944-2904 for real-time assistance. Thank you for considering Bosch!

Q: Does this dishwasher have wifi/home connect?

A: Hi CS, thanks for your question and interest in model SHEM78ZH5N. Yes, this model does have Home Connect capabilities.

Q: Is this ADA compliant for business countertop height?

A: Dear Valued Bosch Customer, thanks for your question and interest in model SHEM78ZH5N. Unfortunately, this model is not ADA-compliant. Our Bosch ADA-compliant dishwasher models will begin with either SG or SP. If you have any additional questions, please contact our customer service team at 1-800-944-2904. Thank you for considering Bosch!

Q: This unit appears to have a clock function. Does it adjust itself for daylight saving time? Will the time remain correct after a power failure? Thanks

A: Model SHEM78ZH5N has a clock feature and yes it automatically keeps the correct time. I attribute that to the wi-fi connection. Which is the only value of having wi-fi, in my opinion. We don't use wi-fi for anything else.

Q: Is this model compatible with a custom panel that covers the entire front, including the clock and readout screen shown in the photos?

A: Hi Don, thank you for your question and interest in Model:SHEM78ZH5N. This Model is not compatible with a Custom Panel and is only available with a Stainless Steel Panel.
