Fantastic printer for the price
||Posted .It is very easy to setup the wireless function and it works flawlessly But, most-of-all its bullet proof or should I say Ocean Passage Proof. My 2 year old well used printer made the 28 day trip from Honolulu to Newport Oregon. It sat under a leaking porthole and got doused with salt water during the two storms encountered on the cruise. It's still working great but shows its wear proudly. I have just bought another one for my shore based office.

Very impressed with photo quality!
Posted .I make my own nautical charts for navigation.Buying new ones from a retailer can cost hundreds of dollars. Using this color printer and copying charts off of the N.O.A.A. website I take them to Kinkos for lamination.Including the cost of the printer, paper, ink and kinkos I saved over $250 on twelve charts! I also take astronomical pictures that I blow up to make frameable prints and the photo quality is outstanding.

Reliable copies and scans
||Posted .I needed another color printer and decided to buy an all-in-one to have versatility in scanning and color copying. I have not been disappointed in the overall functioning and quality of this machine. It has operated reliably since installation (two months ago) and the copies have been perfect. The automatic document feeder for originals is a real plus, eliminating the need to insert each original manually on the platen. Toner cartridges are easy to install, and as of now, it appears that this printer does not use an excessive amount of toner. I would like to have seen a feed area to insert the copy for duplex printing; one has to open the paper tray and insert the copy properly placed to make a duplex copy. The paper tray is a little cumbersome to operate, but it's a small price to pay for the overall good performance of the machine. The software for the scanner function is easy to understand and configure. My only major problem with this machine is that I was not able to set it up for wireless communication, even though I followed the instructions perfectly. I ended up using USB connectivity which is probably more reliable anyway. I cannot comment on the fax function as I have not used it. I have had much success with Brother office machines and would recommend them highly over the other leading brands. All my Brother machines have lasted for many, many years.

Economical, Easy to use, Great for basic printing
||Posted .The scanner with this Brother printer has a variety of strict page settings to select from to scan. Also, I wish the scanner bed was a little larger. I found that in scanning an 8.5 x 11, about 1/8 of an inch of the edge was cut off. A little annoying if you're trying to scan in documents that have print all the way to the edge. I had a Dell all-in-one printer from 2003 that had a scanner as well. The software used to control the scanner had more flexibility and the actual scanner bed was slightly larger. With that printer/scanner I was able to preview the document and manually select what I wanted scanned. I kinda miss that. This printer should really come with a USB cable. It is not included, but luckily I saved my other one from my last printer and it works just fine. I wasn't able to set up the wireless connection at the time. Still haven't needed to set it up yet, so no word about how that works. Paper is pretty easy to load. Paper does get a small/slight dent on the edge where the printer collects each page. So far prints nicely on 22 lb and 24 lb paper as well as 24 lb resume paper. The quick print setting uses less ink and the font looks almost completely different, but suffices for a quick preview for editing. Cartridges are good for about a 6 month period and aren't that expensive. Haven't used any other features besides printing and scanning, but so far those 2 features work without problems. Overall this printer is great for basic uses. Great for a student, professional, or anyone who just needs to do a bit of printing/scanning/etc. at home.

Great all around printer
||Posted .I was looking for a new, relatively inexpensive printer which had scan and fax capabilities to replace an outdated printer that cost an arm and a leg for replacement ink cartridges. I researched this one and it seemed to be a very decent machine for around $100, which is all I felt like paying for since I am just using it at home non-intensively. It has all the capabilities I'm looking for, plus being wireless or USB supported (USB cord not supplied, as I recall.) And it was on sale at Best Buy for an incredible price, to boot. It is easy to load paper into the machine, it makes decent color copies and black and white copies, scans beautifully, has very good diagnostics and online help. Haven't had to use the fax yet, but I am sure it will be just as good as the other features. All in all, a good buy. I ordered it online from Best Buy and arranged to pick it up at a nearby store. The process was painless. I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

Nice solid economical printer
||Posted .Cost: I got it on sale, with various coupons and RZ points, so it only cost me $30! Ink: Bought ink through A big online retailer for only $15 (including shipping) for 10 cartridges (4 black and 2 of each of the colors). Multiple colors allow me to just change the ones I need, instead of throwing out the whole cartridge because yellow is out... Wireless: the set up was VERY easy. I have an iPhone, 2 PC laptops, and a Mac all hooked up to it. It worked very seamlessly. It is awesome that I can print from anywhere in my school to this printer. Quality: feels like a solid machine. The scan and copy features are very useful! I am a teacher, and it is nice to be able to copy, print, scan from the classroom. The only annoying thing is the receiving tray, it slides out from the paper tray (it took me a while to figure this out- I guess I should've read the directions) is just a flimsy piece of plastic. But it does the job. With the exception of this, it feels like a high quality machine. The Auto Document Feeder (ADF): is just like the ones the real copy machines have. It is nice to set what you want to copy or scan (and I guess fax too, but I've never used this feature), and walk away. And then a few seconds later there is the copy or scan waiting for you. Overall, it is a great purchase, I have actually bought the older one (MFC-J425) for home about a year ago, and have since bought this newer one for work. I don't see any differences between the 2, except this one scans to a PDF file, rather than a jpeg. But this might just be a setting difference. No problems, thus far with either machine. I guess, if this was done right on the 425, the 435, doesn't have much to improve upon.

Love the wireless printing!
||Posted .:) GREAT PRICE, $70! About the smallest of it's kind that I could find. Like the separate ink cartridges for each color & high capacity black/color ones, all much cheaper than the HP ink I bought. LOVE that I can print from my wireless devices & laptop upstairs. :( Unless you STAY CONNECTED w/printer on, login is required each time using the phone dial pad. A pain if you have a password with any letters (unless there's a "remember" setting I haven't found yet). Prints a connection test page every time you reconnect, wasting ink & paper. No memory card slots. Miss the "Print Preview" that popped up right before printing that I had on my HP printers. I could cancel quickly if it didn't look like I wanted. So far, I do like it better than the HP all in ones that I had but I haven't done any photo printing so we'll have to see how that goes yet.

Great printer for personal use
||Posted .I purchased this printer in early December 2012 based on the wonderful reviews I read on this site. I have used it quite a bit since then and this printer lives up to the positive reviews. I love this printer for the following reasons: 1. It's wireless; 2. the number of pages printed per minute; 3. the color quality works okay - not extremely high quality but it works. The only disadvantage (and the reason for my rating of 4) is that it requires a little effort to place the paper in the feeder to print or fax. If it is not properly placed, the printer assumes the paper is positioned properly resulting in a blank fax or copy. This printer functions very well and I am very, very pleased with my purchase.
