Q: Is this price for one, or a pair?
A: undefined
Q: Do the speakers need to be plugged into an outlet or just wired to the amp?
A: These are not powered speakers. You will need to connect them directly to your receiver or power amp. I'm sure they can handle more than 100WPC. Start off with getting a used amplifier with maybe around 200-250WPC and see what you think.
A: Gibson Guitar has filed for Bankruptcy and as a result sold Cerwin Vega Home Audio back to Cerwin Vega Professional Corp. So, none of the CV Home XLS products are being produced at this time. We will have to wait and see if CV Professional who now owns CV Home will continue the XLS Line.
Q: Do the grills/covers easily come off the front? Can they be used with them off?
A: The grills come off easily and yes, the speakers can be used without them. It will not affect the sound one way or another. Although, some true audiophiles prefer to listen to their speakers with grills off. These are not audiophile speakers.

A: 250W RMS "Cerwin-Vega sells internationally from two main locations; one in Deerfield Beach, FL, and the other location in Brussels, Belgium, while manufacturing their pro products primarily in Malaysia and home products primarily in China." Per Wikipedia.
A: Cerwin Vega does not make a dual 12'', they do have a dual 8'' though.
