THIS SMALL SURROUND SETUP SOUNDS REALLY GOOD FOR THE SIZE & PRICE. IM PRETTY CRITICAL & IM IMPRESSED FOR THE SIZE/POWER/PRICE. NOT AUDIOPHILE QUALITY BY ANY MEANS BUT CERTAINLY GOOD ENOUGH FOR A SMALL BEDROOM/LIVING ROOM/DORM ROOM IF STRAPPED FOR CASH. BASS WAS EFFICIENT FOR A SMALL PAPERCONE SPEAKER & VOCALS WERE DECENT FROM SATLLEITES. VOLUME WAS GOOD FOR SMALLER ROOMS. WIRING WAS REALLY LONG (SURPRISE FOR CHEAP SYSTEM). IVE HAD $300 SETUPS THAT HAD ABOUT HALF THE LENGTH.
THE CONNECTIONS FOR INPUTS WERE HORRIBLE. THERE WAS ONE L/R AUDIO INPUT & A SET OF 5.1 AUDIO INPUTS THAT WOULD REQUIRE THE INPUT DEVICE HAVE A SEPERATE RCA OUTPUT CHANNEL FOR EACH. THIS MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONNECT ANYTHING. YOUR STUCK WITH DISCONNECTING/SWITCHING RCA's FOR YOUR EQUIPMENT. THIS IS THE GREATEST PROBLEM!

Great if you want more sound than just TV speakers

I got this system because my old one blew out during a storm. I dont have the cash to fork out on a real good one so I wanted a cheap one to last me until I get my funds up. I have a 55inch sony TV but the speakers arent that good in it. So I have to have surround sound or I just dont enjoy the TV. I bought this Coby system and so far its worked out just fine. Its not a true surround sound though. Its more like hooking your TV up to a small home sterio and just adding extra speakers. You have the voice and everything all around you. It doesnt have individual speaker control. You only have 1 volume control for all of it. Also has it to where you can adjust the bass and treble. But thats it. Just 3 knobs. No remote but the knobs are on top of the subwoofer. You will have to buy extra wire because they dont give you much to work with. Bottom line...If your just looking to have your TV louder, this is definately worth the $40. But dont expect it to sound like your at the theaters.

I bought these to use for speakers for my laptop. well when i got them(4 days) i thought that the subwoofer was a little small but when i set it up i was amazed! also the regular speakers can get really, really loud which is great! i did however after setting it up hooked the surround speakers up to the regular left and right speakers and put the center speaker behind my screen. i also had to change the EQ in itunes but other than that i had to change some stuff around they are the best investment that i have made for my laptop so far!!! So if you are looking to buy these speakers for a computer or a small room you will be very happy!

Coby Is Better Than Nothing

If you do not have a system and do not have a lot of money, then this will get you by until you can afford something better. It is better than nothing. Pretty easy to set up. The sound quality is not that great. Because there are not a lot of ports, you cannot have one volume control for other units connected. So, everytime we watch a DVD, we have to manually switch the sound on the back of the subwoofer to DVD and back to TV when we are done. Kind of a pain in the butt. Not enough speaker wire was provided to set up the speakers the way they should be. In the process of buying extra speaker wire to get it done. But as I've stated before, it is better than nothing and at least it provides better sound than just from the tv alone.

i got this for my room to use with my laptop and its a good mini home theater system. the only problem that i had was that it did not have a connection for my laptop. i had to go out and get the right cable, but now it is still a really good home theater system for a small room

Simple Design, good sound.

I purchased as a simple surround sound system and it is exactly that. The sound is good, but you can not do to much to it. Base, treb and volume are the only options. Bass is pretty good and compared to the stereo speakers I had in place this sounds awesome. The speakers are clearly marked and setup is easy. All of the speakers have short wires (10-12 feet for the surround) so you will need speaker wire to reach the corner of even the smallest room.

When I bought this unit I was aware that there was no remote/reciever and that the speaker wires were substandard. I am using this unit as stereo sound (instead of surround sound), so I just sat all of the speakers close to the TV. Replacing the long stock wires with short 14AWG reduced (unpowered) resistance from 1.5 Ohm to 0.3 Ohm. This greatly improves the sound on the 5 Ohm speakers. If you are looking to improve the sound of your flat screen and are only willing to spend $40, then this is your only real option.

I was pleased with the ease to set-up, and with the sound quality for the price.
