Q: Can I use this to put behind my monitor and behind my desk setup for ambient lighting in the background?

A: I do not think this is the best product for that, although it would probably work. The main module has to be plugged into SATA power off your PSU, so that means it will reside inside or very near your PC case. Then you would still have to connect the module through USB to your PC using the supplied cable or an aftermarket one. Once thats done, you can plug in the strips... They need to be connected to the module, so that means additional wiring from the main module (which is likely inside your case) to the monitor. This wont be pretty, durable, or convenient without some more work. Then you would stick the led strips to your monitor in exactly the place you want them first try, because the magnets would be useless. Then I would worry that the magnets in the strips would somehow affect the monitor signal/picture, although I could be completely wrong. I have to believe there are leds much more suited to this available and for a cheaper price.

Q: Were do you plug them into in your PC.

A: Google "Zotty's iCUE" and the top result has everything about it. But the strips plug into the Node Pro (included in this kit). The Node Pro connects to a USB header and a SATA connector. If you dont have any available USB headers on your motherboard, you can get the NZXT hub (I did) or a similar USB hub. Just make sure it's the motherboard style USB, not external.

Q: Will this work with the new MSI Z690 Pro motherboard? Also, I would like to add one or two Corsair LL120 or LL140 RGB exhaust fans at the top of my case and wanted to know if you can connect those with these strips with the accessories it comes with

A: Hi Jpaul, The Lighting Node PRO uses a USB 2.0 internal header connection to the motherboard, it looks like you should have 1 header available. Fan RGB connections would need to go to an RGB Fan Hub which would then connect to an LED channel on the Lighting Node PRO. A: absolutely NO. this is specifically made for PC.

Cool lighting
This is an awesome lighting kit for your PC. Colors are bright and vivid. To me the hardest thing was were to put the lights. I have a gaming PC with a full size ATX tower. The led strips are about 12 inches long. They have sticky tape on the back and they are also magnetic. Magnets work good didn't need to use the tape. I had plenty of wire to put them were I wanted them. I have three on channel one and one on channel two. You will need a USB 2 port on your Motherboard for the controller. Also you will need to download the software from Corsair.com . Download the LINK software. Your lights will not work without it. When I first turned my PC on after installing the lights they did not come on. After I installed the software and configured it I had no problems what so ever! You get a lot of options. You can control each LED strip. I had to update the firmware, no problem with that, it was very easy! The only con is the price. They are expensive but the quality is outstanding. You get what you pay for.

Great lights, sad 2 were broken
This light set is great. Love that you can control each individual LED with the Corsair iCUE software and sync it with other iCUE compatible RGB devices. this was easy to install and setup. They are auto recognized by the iCUE software once you turn the computer back on. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 is because the packaging is pretty tight and when I opened mine, 2 of the strips were showing damage, and 1 had completely split apart. It still works but disappointed in the way these are packaged so tight that they split.

The only RGB you need
I bought these in maybe 2017 for myself, and then got another pack for my friend for Christmas. These things are really bright and I only have RGB ram in my system. I have some components with white or silver parts which help to transfer the light, as well as some white LEDs. I attached one image with the RGB ram disabled (the teal picture) and the others are various colors with the RAM + the lighting strips. Only minor complaint is that the settings from iCue aren't saved to the hardware, or that I know of, so when you first boot up the PC it takes maybe 10 seconds (with M.2) before iCue starts running and switches to the modes you have selected. They're a little pricey, but I got them on sale on black friday for like $40 once, maybe $50 the other time. They have withstood my test of time with them.
