      Motion detection poor at best

      As a live view cam, this product was satisfactory. The set up was easy to do, the app controlling it was adequate but with no user manual was also confusing in several areas. The major drawback of the camera was the extremely poor motion detection. As a security camera this is critical and it simply was not adequate. It would recognize lights coming on and off as an event, but it simply would not recognize motion even when I stood in front of the camera. To be clear, there were some instances where it did recognize this, but in general it would not. This was a total deal breaker, why have a security camera that does not function? I have two other older tilt/pan D-Link cameras by the way, that was why I was interested in this one, but this one just did not do the job. I would absolutely not recommend this cam. Also, the D-link help desk was useless. I called before returning the item, but after being on hold for quite a while, they just hung up. Sorry I wasted my time on this one. You get what you pay for.

      I’m sorry but I just wasn’t able to get this thing setup. Features are too complex. I spent an hour with tech support on the phone and they didn’t seem to know what was going on. It could’ve been a Wi-Fi problem but my Wi-Fi is working perfectly. It worked for some of the time there was about a two second lag But seem to only work when the unit was on the same Wi-Fi channel as my phone and would not work and would continue loading if my phone was on a different Wi-Fi channel. Overall I believe they’re better units for the money out there and it should not of been so hard to set this up and to get it to work. I just recently set up a printer on my Wi-Fi so I think I know what I’m doing this unit is just too complicated to be useful and so on reliable that I had to return it.

      Hard to set up; doesn't work thru glass

      I bought this camera to monitor wildlife outside my sunroom. I had a prior very positive experience with D-Link cameras, but this one was very hard to setup. Nowhere on the package does it say that it requires a smart phone with the right software to set it up. After one exchange (thinking the camera was broken) and two calls to D-Link we finally broke the code and got the camera setup. Picture quality is OK, but not as good as expected. But I was hoping to record based on motion. Unfortunately the camera won't detect motion through glass. One D-Link tech support person said it should work, but another confirmed that it would not work thru glass. Motion works fine looking at things inside the house, but I was never able to make it trigger on motion outside the sunroom.

      We wanted a camera that didn't require batteries and an SD card for saving videos. This does both. The camera only records when it detects noise or a motion and sends you a notification immediately. You can access the videos on the DLink app which works great. You have the ability to go onto the app and watch the camera live and take photos and record video if needed. The videos are saved to the cloud for 24 hrs for free unless you pay a subscriptions bt 24hrs seems long enough. Great nightvision. The quality is only 720 but for the price this camera works amazingly well.

      Could not connect

      I could never get this camera connected. I called customer service and talked to them for two hours troubleshooting. They were very nice and helpful, but we could not get the camera connected. It would always get to halfway during the connection and error. I returned this camera and spent some extra money and bought the Nest. I got the Nest connected within 5 minutes.

      This camera has a decent app to control options on your phone ... Some options were motion detection with messaging .. so u get a message if it is tripped ..the camera has good picture and great audio .. it was easy to hook up to my wireless router ...

      Inexpensive and worked problem free for a week. Support is responding to service request. Seems to need power recycling daily at this point. Support is still working on issues reported.
