Q: DOES IT COME WITH WINDOWS 10?
A: Yes comes with Windows 10
Q: Can we expand the RAM ourself or is it a soldered one? What's the maximum permissible RAM size?
A: Yes, you can expand the RAM yourself. Maximum RAM is 16 gigabytes. It has an 8 gigabyte RAM stick occupying one RAM slot, and one empty RAM slot for expansion.
Q: does this come with windows 10s or windows 10 home
A: It comes as Windows 10 Home in S Mode. Like many it wasn't activated. Just click on the "Troubleshoot" option under the activation error message. Once it is activated an option to switch out of S Mode will become available. Just search for "Switching out of S mode in Windows 10" and follow Microsoft's instructions to convert to normal Windows 10 Home so you can install any software you want and not just Microsoft Store programs that the S Mode allows.
Q: Does this come with CD-ROM or DVD player?
A: No CD/DVD player
Q: Can you expand the storage on this unit? For example, put in an internal 2.5" HDD or 2.5" SSD
A: Yes. It's actually pretty simple. There is a normal 2.5 inch drive connector and carry cage available and they even provide 4 screws to attach the 2.5 inch drive to the carrier. Just mount the drive and attach the standard connector and put the cage back in place with the screws. The dell website service manual shows you how to remove the base and there are YouTube videos also. Just remove the screws and carefully pry the base off. Took me about 20 mins total to install so extra storage. RAM and replacing the PCIe SSD also very easy. Everything is very accessible from underneath with the base removed. See picture after I installed a 2.5inch drive.
Q: USB is a must, I see that it has HDMI but there are several other ports are any of them USB?
A: If you click on the Product/Data Sheet link, the document shows 1 HDMI, 1 USB 2.0, and 2 (two) USB 3.1 ports.
Q: Does it have a backlight for the keyboard?
A: The keyboard is not backlit.
