Q: what are the demensions of the Epson 2600
A: 17.5" width, 12" depth & 6.7 in height
Q: Does it print great pictures as that's what I am interested in ?
A: Does good pictures however the ink for this printer is not the best for long life pictures. It is only a dye in and will fade out with time and sunlight on it. Hope they get better ink in the future for photos, but it will cost more.
Q: will this printer work in black if the other tanks are empty?
A: Don't think so, but with the cost of ink at about 12.95 it pays to keep extra on hand. I have a whole set plus 1 extra bottle of black.
Q: Does this printer scan and fax well.
A: Scan yes, fax no.
Q: its the expression ET 2550 inferior in anyways than expression ET 2600?
A: I have both 2600 has bigger panel I believe.
Q: is this a true ink jet printer?
A: I would say yes. It lays down the ink on the paper with a series of ink heads by heating up the ink. The only concern to a buyer would be that it only comes in a dye ink formula. If you are doing picture that you want to keep for years, just make sure no direct sunlight is on them. I love my printer because of the ink wells and it last a long time. I only do everyday type printing I bought it last year around feb or may and the only thing I have done is to add paper. My is the ET-2550, first one out.
