    Synopsis

    From Dusk Till Dawn
In this action-horror flick from director Robert Rodriguez and screenwriter Quentin Tarantino, Tarantino stars with George Clooney as a pair of bad-to-the-bone brothers named Seth and Richie Gecko. After a string of robberies that left a river of blood in the Geckos' wake, the sadistic siblings head to Mexico to live the good life. To get over the border, they kidnap Jacob Fuller, a widowed preacher played by Harvey Keitel, and his two children, Kate (Juliette Lewis) and Scott (Ernest Liu). Once south of the border, the quintet park their RV at a rough-and-tumble trucker bar called The Titty Twister, where Seth and Richie are supposed to meet a local thug. After a couple of drinks, they realize that they're not in a typical bar, as the entire place begins to teem with vicious, blood-sucking vampires. With the odds stacked greatly against them, the Fullers and Geckos team together in hopes of defeating the creatures of the night. Makeup artist Tom Savini and blaxploitation star Fred Williamson appear as allies against the vampires, and Cheech Marin fills three different roles. ~ Matthew Tobey, Rovi

12 years before they would collaborate again on Grindhouse writer/director Quintin Tarrantino and director Robert Rodriguez gave us From Dusk Till Dawn, and action thriller that goes South of the Border into a Vampire flick. All the while turning George Clooney into one bad mother clucker. Quintin plays the second fiddle as the two are cast as the Gekko Brothers (perhaps cousins of the Vega Brothers) as they kidnap Harvey Kietel and Juliette Lewis and demand them to take them to Mexico and to a bar called the T**** Twister. The film features a cool cast from the likes of Fred Williamson, Tom Savani and the hottest chick in Hollywood Salma Hayek. What evolves is a fun flick and some real classic cheesy moments.

While at a basic level this is a horror movie, it is so much more. There is a lot to say about this film. I will keep my comments to a minimum. George Clooney's feature film debut! Quentin Tarantino's best role! The acting was great! Harvey Keitel is fantastic! The movie was fun and entertaining, and actually good. And all of that without the horror. If the "bad stuff" never happened in this film I would still watch and enjoy. As a matter of fact I still really want to see a movie about the Gecko and what had led up to these events. Bravo Mr. Rodriguez!

      Kind of Strange

I would have to say this is one of Quentin Tarantino's strangest movies. I did not like the way he cast himself; I thought it was gross as a matter of fact. The movie started out pretty good until about the last 40 minutes when they arrived at their rendezvous and things got even more strange. I really like almost all of Tarantino's films, but this one I wasn't very satisfied with.

This was such a random movie because I didn't expect any of it coming up. I honestly expected it to be about two dudes trying to escape from the cops and doing things to try to avoid them. Then out of nowhere, it flips it on its ear and goes completely into a different storyline. I really liked it but it looks too ghetto now since it was made a while back.

Four stars for the actual film. Horror and comedy are hard to pull off, but From Dusk till Dawn manages to do it. Great action, great dialogue, and memorable cameos by Cheech Marin and Salma Hayek. No extras to speak of at all, the disc is as bare bones as it gets, but it does come with a digital copy.

Returning blu ray prior to viewing. Can't believe that a blu ray has the audio in 2.0 stereo with no extras while the dvd has 5.1 DTS with lots of extras. I'll keep the old dvd and return the blu ray because it's not the upgrade I expected.

This movie starts like a bank robber flick, but then does a 360 when they go to mexico and it turns into a vampire flick. My favorite George Clooney flick, he pulled his character off perfectly, the movie is awesome from start to finish.

George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Quintin Tarantino, Selma Hayek, Danny Trajio! Why say more? Cheech Marin plays three roles in this film and kills it!
