A: I have owned two of these, the previous model (20 years) and now this new model for about three months, and neither of these two had the described problem. I would suggest that something in either the wiring hook-up or the CPU inside the control panel has an error and would get it looked at as soon as possible as what is described could lead to an injury or worse.
Q: Are the coils energy efficient/ temperature controlled?
A: Hi Dip- The range is not Energy Star Rated. Also, the burners are not temperature controlled. Choose settings from Lo to Hi.
