Q: One of the pictures shows a wire. Can this unit be wired in or it it only used with recharging battery? If that’s the case does it come with a charger?

A: The Nest Cam (battery) can run on battery power alone, or can be connected to a power outlet with the included or optional weatherproof cable and adapter for continuous power. Please note that the power adapter included is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).

Q: When it says it will hold videos 3 hours.....does that mean it holds 3 hours of video footage, or it only holds a video for a 3 hour time period?

A: Three continuous hours of recording. The last three hours will be available and as each minute passes the oldest drops off. Its a three hour "loop" it records in.

A: Preferable otherwise image quality will suffer and it will lag

Q: Is there any charge for using this equipment?

A: The monthly subscription isn't required to operate, but a Google account IS required. The subscription gives you extra recording and storge options. 120 a year and you get more features.

Q: Will this camera work looking at a parking lot through a glass window if outside mounting is not possible?

Setup and controls for the Nest Cam (battery) are found in the Google Home app. There are compatible security cameras that can be integrated with the Home app. Unfortunately, the Night Owl security system is not included on the list.
