You can use the micro HMDI port (cable not included) to stream the video directly to your PC or TV. Also this looks like a protection for you camera.

No microphone plug, Very little wind protection from the standard mic. It's nice now that I have the options I should have had from the start, and had to give up waterproofing to do it.

Battery Compartment is a Hassle

My only complaint is what a hassle it is to change the battery to the GoPro. Let's face it, they die quick and when that happens you have to detach the GoPro from anything its attached to then you have to slide the whole device out of the mod case to change the battery. Just an FYI

Great Except for One Thing

There are only two issues. One is that the attached mic doesn't have a windscreen for it and you have to take off the case anytime you want to take out the memory card. I will say one other issue is that the base price for these mods in my opinion is high. But overall this is an amazing choice for external mic options for the Hero 8.

Good for what I wanted - depends on your needs

Now, the mics on it are ok but for $80 you would expect better. Fortunately I bought it to use with an external mic and for the port for me to then use with an HDMI (which was removed as well from previous model). Now this is a better setup then using the external plug from the previous model that was bulky and weird. So the layout is better, just a shame the price wasn't cheaper or the mics being better.

Added Functionality but at a Cost

It also gives you external plugs allowing you to run a USB-C cable to the camera to give it unlimited power (which you will need given the abysmal battery life of the Hero8). The downside? Using the case means your GoPro isn't waterproof, so keep an eye out for moisture. It also fails to offer enhanced lens protection, which it easily could and which would have added a lot of value to this accessory.

- A:Answer For the Media Mod to connect to the HERO8 Black, the side door of the HERO8 Black needs to be temporarily removed. Without that door closed tightly, the HERO8 Black is not waterproof, so as long as the HERO8 Black is used in the Media Mod, it is not waterproof.

Q: Questionbought the mod to use the micro HDMI for an external out to TV or a webcam for live meetings. I now found out that this external micro HDMI output can only be used for playback (?) or the unavailable display mod . how can I get an output for my needs?

- A:Answer No, using anything without the original battery door takes away the waterproof seal. Media mod requires you to remove it.

Q: QuestionI want to by this mod only for viewing photos and videos from the go pro to our tv, can this mod easily be removed when we are done viewing and then put back on whenever needed or is it something that you keep on permanently ? Also micro or mini hdmi ?

- A:Answer Yes. The mounting fingers from the HERO8 Black are able to extend out through the bottom of the Media Mod so the GoPro can still be used with mounts even when the GoPro is in the Media Mod.
