Love it ,fast ,I can multi task. Great buy price
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I love the speed and I can multitask on it. I have many emails and sites open at the same time. And I work on my contracts also. No delay. I do not game . But I love the speed and I have enjoyed it and I still have it in S mode. I have had no issues from set up to installing what I want and loading my documents from my older computer .wifi pick up is great and I think it is a great computer . I have had it not quite a month and I use it everyday. It is very light also and I slip it in my book bag I carry every day to work and with me.Glad I went with this one.

Absolute steal.
||Posted .Although this laptop was what is called a "Burst SKU," it will probably never be available again in brand-new condition. It was the Deal of the Day on 24 August for $249.99, MSRP $399.99 (please don't ever spend that much on these). For the price, this was the best laptop in it's class. It seems like many people were thrown off by the "fingerprint reader," listed in the spec sheet (and even on HP's website!) why would a computer at this price point even have that? Shoutout to those people. Touchscreen, touchpad and keyboard exceeded my expectations. The screen resolution is the only downside, if you're sitting 2-3 feet away from the screen then it's perfectly fine. The keyboard is fairly clicky and isn't mushy like all the other laptops in this class. The speakers are front-facing, which is what HP is known for, they get very loud and doesn't seem to distort. Out of the box, please switch this thing out of S-mode, it's free to switch to Windows 10 Home. There was almost no bloatware out of the box. Being that the computer has an i3, you will need to disable Cortana completely to take some of the load off. I noticed that the fan was non-stop after 30 minutes of use while doing updates and using Chrome. They no longer let you disable Cortana in settings, so you will need to turn it off using the Registry Editor, which is a minefield for most users. For those of you curious, in taking this thing apart, there are two DIMM slots for RAM expansion, looks like up to 16GB, or two sticks of 8GB of DDR4-2400 SODIMM, which costs about $80-100, anything is better than 4GB. The SSD appears to be an NVMe, which can easily be upgraded, all you will need is the Windows Installation Media on a flash drive. Other than that, it has a USB-C port, 2 USB 3.0, an HDMI, and an SD card reader. Therefore, i'm honestly impressed, and for anyone who missed out on the sale, check back in a few days to see if they have any open-box... hopefully less than $249 since they fiddle with all of the open-box stickers every week (aka assign hundreds of stickers to one or two merch associates for the entire store), usually not to the customer's benefit FYI...

Bang for your buck
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Sales rep kept trying to get me to purchase the 'upgraded' version which would've been I believe $150 more on the reasoning this has only 4GB of RAM. If you're not afraid or know how to open this up it has 2 RAM slots, grab yourself an 8GB stick for $50 (sku: 6346312 is what I purchased) and you'll be identical to the other machine. Purchased for sister in law and she absolutely loves it.

Solid Notebook for the price
||Posted .Owned for 7 months when reviewed.HP - 14" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i3 - 4GB Memory - 128GB Solid State Drive - Ash Silver Owned for 6-months Picked this up during December 2019 sale for roughly $269+ Tax for my step-dad as he needed a lightweight web-surfing/ email / YouTube notebook. He does the occasional spreadsheet or pictures for boating and boat repair but not a gamer, heavy video or picture machine. Surfs and streams well so far. I deleted most of the adware and "temporary use" apps, set up virus scan, his email, etc. so he could open it and go. So far he really likes it. The keyboard is a bit cheap feeling for me but I work in the industry and was not the target user. He likes it just fine. I will probably add some memory the next time I see him since I couldn't lay my hands on the memory prior to giving him the machine. Other than that... here are the points: ********* PRO ************* + VALUE - great little machine for basic web surfing, email and moderate streaming + SCREEN / IMAGE - decent for the price. I was pleasantly surprised by the color range and brightness range. The blacks can pixelate or get muddy when streaming but much better than expected for the price. ********* CON ************* - SOUND - Sound quality is low end to moderate but to be expected from a machine in this price point. Not the worst I have heard by a long shot. - Bit of bloatware in the preload. Purging that streamlined startup and eliminated some embedded popups disguised as a system notification. Irritating but the way the industry has headed even for higher end machines so not surprising.

Super good for the price.
||Posted .I bought this laptop as a temporary thing while my primary laptop was throwing fits all semester so this became my primary laptop. It held up surprisingly well. I couldn't always go to the labs so I was doing some decent programming and I'm surprised he didn't overheat horribly. Once I HAD to run a pretty heavy program on him and typing was about 1 character per second. So you can tell he's not meant for that. BUT he did survive an entire semester of me pretty much testing his limits all the time and he didn't overheat or explode. If you're looking for a laptop that you just need to do the basics, super low power stuff, then I would 100% reccomend it.

Q: QuestionHi, does upgrading your Ram and hard drive void your warranty on your laptop? thanks Jim
Asked by Jim.
- A:Answer It does not, as long as you don't damage other parts of the laptop while making the swap. Also, the parts that you upgrade will not be covered under the warranty.

Q: QuestionCan the SSD be upgraded?
Asked by Jose.
- A:Answer Yes, you can upgrade the solid state drive. Please note that this is a different type of solid state drive. Here is the info on the one that is on the laptop: L61958-001 (part number) SSD 128GB 2280 M2 SATA3 TLC. You would need to look for a 2280 M2 SATA3 TLC solid state drive.

Q: Questionwhat does it mean after you set up your laptop, and there is a white screen that has the words service at the top right?
Asked by VILI.
- A:Answer hi!!! this happened to me as well today, completely shut off your computer by holding down the power button. Let it sit for awhile, reboot and you’ll be able to go through the process and the white screen won’t show up.

Q: QuestionCan it drive two external displays with it's Win 10? One from HDMI and 2nd from the USB C port? ie. does it support HDMI or Display Port Alt Mode?
Asked by Insignia.
- A:Answer At HP Team. Your answer first says "no" (only data with USB C) but in the next statement you say "yes". So which one is it?! (Of course one woud need to buy an adapter. But not all USB C ports allow support HDMI protocol. And the Best Buy specs never say which laptops do, and which don't.

Q: QuestionIs this a new or old computer model? How come there aren’t any reviews?
Asked by Kmmf.
- A:Answer Hello Kmmf, This particular model was a Burst SKU, therefore, it was only available for a short period of time... this is a tactic used by almost every retailer to drive more traffic, which I think they definitely did. The sale was the perfect time before back to school and by far was a better deal than anything else they've had all season. You might be able to find one open-box (aka pulled out of the box and put back in, may show gentle use). I posted a thorough review on the product page.
