BB does NOT stand behind their house brand items

This review is about the 5th time purchase of these Best Buy house brand "Insignia" iPhone car charger cables. I purchased 2 of these cables about 2 years ago for my teenage daughter and I. After about a year of non-abusive use, with no visible signs of wear, both cables failed to charge our iPhones within a week of each other. Unaware the other person's cable failed, we each went to Best Buy and purchased replacement cables. We each used the replacement cables (purchase 3 & 4) for about a year and just like with the first two cables, they each failed within a week of each other with no external signs of wear. My daughter returned to Best Buy Canoga Park with her failed cable and purchase receipt that she was careful to keep, hoping to make a warranty exchange. Instead she was told "Best Buy offers no warranty on our Insignia cables." Needing a charger cable for a Labor Day Weekend road trip she purchased this cable #5 on her way out of town. She then called me to share that Best Buy does not stand behind their cables. I went online and purchased equivalent products from that rain forest company, received same day delivery and spent about half of what Best Buy charges. We will compare how long cable #5 lasts compared to the non-Best Buy cable. If you decide to purchase these Insignia cables know they work great until they don't which will be in about one year and Best Buy won't stand behind their cable products when they fail, when many competitor cables come with lifetime warranties. I will take my failed cable back to Best Buy when I get the chance to see if I am treated better than my daughter and will update this review if I am.

My wife and I bought two iPhone 7's and our old Micro USB chargers were no longer useful. I had some rewards points and purchased this one because it had the 3.1A output and a second USB port so we could charge both phones without using two 12V plugs. It worked ok with one phone plugged into the attached cord. But occasionally if you plug in a second cable and phone. The second phone will cycle charging, not charging. I pulled the cable from the phone, reinserted and it worked ok. I thought it was a fluke, but it happens every so often still. I'm not quite sure if it's a defective charger or not. But since the main portion does work and the store is about 10 miles away, I haven't returned it yet. But it does it's job and charges a single phone quickly.

I got this adapter after a trip in our Nissan Juke as we were in need of an additional area to charge our phones; plugging a phone into the available USB port forced us to listen to music from that specific device. This adapter let's us use the outlet without the car overriding our music playing needs while charging a device. More recently we took our Toyota Prius on trip and determined this adapter didn't fit in neither Toyota outlet (fortunately the Toyota has an extra outlet and doesn't override the music player when hooking up a USB device for charges). Four stars only as the adapter may or may not work pending your car's outlet but when the adapter fit's it works great as it has a cord for one current Apple 5 or later phone and an additional USB plug in for an additional device.

Frankly, I'm pretty disappointed with this item. I have a Verizon car charger I'd been using for years. It was intended for phones with a non-symmetrical plug and in order to use it with my iPhone I'd had to get an iPhone lightining cord and plug that into the auxiallary port on the car charger. Rather than replace the lightning cord when it wore out recently, I decided to buy this charger instead because it has the correctly shaped plug for an iPhone. The difference in quality between the old and the new chargers was clearly visible the minute I unwrapped the new one. Put bluntly, you can tell it's very, very cheaply made. My suspicions proved true as I am constantly having to push it back in to get it to,work. I do not recommend it ... at any price.

I previously purchased a Belkin at an Apple Store that was recommended by the store employee as a solid car charger, but it stopped working within about 6 months, and our family has 2 iPads and 2 iPhones that almost always need an additional charge on long trips. This one fits our needs and gives us an additional USB port to charge more than one device at a time. Additionally, it seems to charge much more quickly than our previous charger. Lastly, it fits very tightly into the car's charging receptacle, so it won't pop out if the cord is pulled too hard. I've had this charger now for over a month and have used it a great deal without any problems.

It's the little things that matter! What's exciting about a charger? Well...not much. Until you lose one or the one you have breaks!! I visited a local BestBuy while on an important business trip. Like most chargers, mine had started to come apart at the plug. Then it just wouldn't work. I must have an operational phone while on the road. The rep at BestBuy showed me thins charger. It was inexpensive but feature laden, fit better than the factory charger in my socket, and is built WAY better! Good product. Great service. What's not to like? And more importantly, what other retailer is going to give you fact and experience based advice while standing behind the product better than BestBuy? Ya, here's a hint: Zero!

I first bought this product and it lasted about a year and died completely. I purchased another and after about a year the plug worked and you could still charge via your own cord and the port (2nd charger). The original one stopped charging all together so it was still useable to charge one phone if you had your own cord but my husband and I generally charge both of ours in the car so having only one working wasn't helpful. I went and purchased a third one and thus far it is working perfectly. I like that it lights up blue when plugged in and lets you know it is properly plugged in all the way.

I bought this charger about 3 weeks ago. I mostly picked it because of the coiled cord, as I've had regular cords get caught in the seat tracks when not being used. I looked at another brand with a coiled cord, but it did not have the extra USB port in the top like this one does. The charging time is as good or slightly better than other chargers I've used. The cord feels to be very sturdy, and the transition from the cord to the lightning connector looks like it will be reliable. When my wife saw it she asked why I bought that type of charger, but we switched vehicles one day last week and she now wants one for her car :)
