Pleasantly surprised
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked just as good as the fancy one in my rental last weekend. My 2001 sequoia has older speakers and steering wheel yet connected beautifully and was so easy to navigate.

Great Stereo and Install
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the stereo to update my 2005 Mustang into 2018. They also installed it very professionally because I hate anyone touching my car but houghly recommend.

Excellent unit, exactly what I was looking for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed this head unit, along with new speakers and a backup camera. I went with the Maestro R1 unit and their cable to adapt to my car and this combination was exactly what I was looking for. My steering wheel controls work, the head unit serves up car info such as tire pressures, voltage and a variety of gauges. Everything works as expected. The sound is excellent with an enormous amount of control over the entire system including fairly granular audio control. The interface takes a little getting used to but it's manageable. Once you have your favorite icons in your preferred locations and all of that, it becomes more user friendly. The head unit misbehaved a little when connected to my phone but a firmware update from the JVC website corrected the issues. Android Auto has matured into a user friendly and reliable driving platform. I use Waze, Google Play Music, TuneIn, etc. on a daily basis and the technology upgrade is a welcome edition to the daily commute. The head unit toggles between built-in functions and Android Auto pretty seamlessly. For what it's worth, I tried Weblink for a few short minutes before ditching it. As an Android user I see absolutely no reason for it. It's a blemish on an otherwise stellar unit. The only thing I would wish for is the ability to hide icons that I don't use such as Weblink, Sirius, etc. I would highly recommend this head unit for the audience it is intended for.

Great inexpensive stereo for CarPlay
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this on a whim at a great price on Black Friday. I have an older (2006) Toyota Sequoia with the JBL system factory installed. I will be moving in the nearer future to a new city, and wanted navigation capability before moving. I use iPhones, and like CarPlay, so that was a no-brainer. The system is easy to use, works great with CarPlay and I installed a backup camera just because and it works well with that. I have not tried the WebLink or whatever it's called app that is built in, as CarPlay gives me all the functionality I want/need. The funny, and great, thing is, my car stereo sounds phenomenally better than it did before with the factory installed radio. This little radio pushes the JBL speakers to a point to almost rival a complete system install. I love it and crank the tunes much more than I would before. Highly recommended for a cheaper way to get CarPlay in your car!

Fit perfectly in my 2005 Corvette
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to replace the original radio to enable Bluetooth phone, bluetooth music and use Waze for navigation. This radio fit perfectly and with the use of ApplePlay the music and Bluetooth connectivity does a great job. Waze connectivity can only be done via the JVC app which is not great. However, Apple will be updating the ApplePlay connectivity to enable use of Waze. It was a great value and installed perfectly by Best Buy installers.

Great product, less than satisfactory service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live in Pennsylvania and purchased product, installation and installation accessories via telephone to Best Buy in Boston, Massachusetts area for my son for Christmas. The sale transaction went well and installation was scheduled for Dec 21. When my son arrived at the store he was informed that the accessories required for installation were not ordered so installation had to be rescheduled for Jan 4th. For what I paid and for the inconvenience placed on my son I find this service unacceptable. Best Buy made no offer of compensation for their error.

Solid Receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Solid in dash receiver and a huge upgrade from factory stereo in a 2010 Civic. Touchscreen is bright and responsive, CarPlay is a great UI, Bluetooth is quality. Only cons, built in Waze app is quirky switching back and forth between it and CarPlay, so stuck with Maps until iOS 12 comes out. Also, no remote.

so far no issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.just installed, still learning everything. really love the bluetooth connection from my phone to head unit. easy to setup and sounds great! love the spotify app on both carplay and the head unit itself. still having a little bit of an issue using Waze, but should be able to figure it out in the near future. WeblinkforJVC could be a little better, but im not complaining.

Q: QuestionCan the screen on the JVC KW-M740BT be shut off for night driving? And I’m not talking about shutting the entire stereo down, but listening to music with the screen off.
Asked by PeeWee.
- A:Answer Yes. Hit the function button in top right corner and then you have to hold down on the screen that says display. Screen then just shows a small clock

Q: QuestionDoes this support Bluetooth? Would I be able to control volume etc with my steering wheel controls? Are only certain cars compatible?
Asked by Nathan.
- A:Answer This model does fully support Bluetooth...due to the many changes in the phone operating systems, please be sure to check that the firmware on the JVC is up to date. Here is a link for this model. http://www.jvc.net/cs/car/firmware/2018/kwv840bt/ One of the problems with replacing your factory radio with a new receiver, is that those handy audio controls built into the steering wheel won't work anymore. The way to solve this dilemma is to install an adapter for the steering wheel audio controls, . You would need something like the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MSW Steering Wheel Control Adapter. Best Buy carries others as well and can set you up with the one that is best for your vehicle.

Q: QuestionIs it compatible with a 2011 GMC Sierra
Asked by Raul.
- A:Answer Yes it is compatible, you’d have to get the compatible wiring harness for your vehicle along with the dash kit for that factory look. The wiring harness you have several options, this particular head unit is compatible with the idatalink Maestro module which will communicate with your OBDII, will give vehicle gauge readings on screen, and retain factory steering wheel controls.

Q: QuestionThe deal says free installation. When I go to order it says geek squad recommended a number nof other things including a back up camera. Will the installation include the back up camera if I buy them together?
Asked by Kun.
- A:Answer Unfortunately the back up camera is a separate installation charge even though the camera has to be connected to the receiver anyway. So they install the receiver for free and then take it out to connect the camera for an installation fee, doesn’t make much sense really...another way to get more money. Each piece is a separate installation fee!

Q: QuestionCan you use Waze app and listen to music using Bluetooth at the same time.
Asked by Colton.
- A:Answer Yes. It functions pretty much the same as using your phone alone. There are some work around things you have to do to get some applications to work. YouTube has a lot of tutorials. Not all of them worked for me but most do. Very happy with this unit.

Q: QuestionCan someone please tell me what it means when it says "Mobile Operating System Compatibility: Android"? Does this mean that this stereo can not be run by an Apple device? This is confusing me.
Asked by confused.
- A:Answer This needs to be corrected on the Best Buy site. The JVC model is compatible with both Android and Apple iOS operating systems. Site should read "Mobile Operating System Compatibility: Apple iOS and Android" Thanks for pointing that out!!!

Q: QuestionCan you download apple apps onto this radio?
Asked by Trev.
- A:Answer It works in junction with Apple CarPlay, the apps that will show up on screen are the apps compatible with Apple CarPlay (i.e. Apple maps, Waze, google maps, Pandora). You can check Apple’s website for a list of compatible apps for Apple CarPlay. It does not have wireless CarPlay it has to be connected via USB in order for Apple CarPlay to work.
