A: No, the upper part is refrigeration, the lower part is freezer. I choose LG is because the Best Buy clerk told me they have report of Samsung water leaking. And I like the LG look.

A: 24". I left 2" between the back of the frig and the wall, which would make it 26" from the wall to the hinge..
