Picked this up a couple of days ago took me a while to rearrage my setup. This thing is massive and the picture is amazing. I was indecisive on this model or the previous year model due to ppi and text fridging. I cannot see any text fridges or blur to my eye. The anti glare on the screen is nice and the curve makes it feel very immersive. Overall id say its awesome.

LG has released their new UltraGear Curved 45" OLED Gaming Smart Monitor, and it doesn't disappoint. The box includes the monitor, base, stand (connects base to monitor), HDMI cable, DP cable, USB-C cable, remote control, power cable with transformer (split), and quick user guide/paperwork. The monitor comes with a manufacturer's 2-year warranty. PROS: ----------- * Very good way to assemble - NO screws are used or tools needed. It includes 2 butterfly bolts on the bottom of the monitor (see picture) that screw into the stand, and the stand clicks into the monitor. Thank you, LG, for making this quick and easy!! * The size is GREAT, and the curvature isn't too much, at least for me. It does have a SERIOUS curve though (see pic) if viewed from the top. It's not for everyone, but for gaming, it's pretty cool to have "surround view". If the monitor is close up, the monitor literally puts you in the middle of the action. * The HDR 400 TRUE BLACK is for real. I haven't seen many monitors this black before when a pixel is "off". * G-SYNC compatible and FreeSync Premium Pro technology depending on your PC with nearly no delay at 0.03ms. * The joystick under the center of the monitor is easy to use. The menus are easy to navigate. * The ability to run streaming apps (and other apps) on the monitor make this a dual threat * The options in the monitor menus are numerous - too many to name here. More popular items might be the FPS being always ON in any corner of the monitor, dark room mode, crosshair, black levels, eARC support, and the ability to change the Gaming Dashboard icons when it is brought up. * The 240 FPS is for real. Playing games with seamless movement is incredible, especially when microseconds count. * LOW Glare. This is always important on every monitor and TV. * The monitor has the ability to move up/down and rotate slightly left and right (see picture for rear pivot point). It has slight tilt front-to-back, and does NOT have rotate ability. * The WebOS can connect via wired ethernet or with Wifi. * It's buried in the monitor settings, but you can turn on/off the lighting on the back of the monitor to 4 different colors, multi-color (breathing fade), or OFF. CONS: ----------- * LG's WebOS just has a rickety design in my opinion. * The remote works fine but needs to design a better-feeling remote. This one works fine but the main center point doesn't feel "well-designed" because of the raised bump as the ENTER key. I like the concave dimple which is used on a number of other smart remotes. It just gives a better feel of where the arrow keys are. * If you get into the menu of the monitor (using the joystick), you can't EXIT the menu with the joystick. You have to use the remote control or wait for the menu to timeout. * The multi-screen option is ok but needs some work. It's clunky at best and only gives 2 options - side-by-side, and picture-in-picture, and has limited options. And if you use side-by-side with the PC as one of the windows, everything will be super small due to the massive size of the screen compacted into half the monitor. Now if you're watching video, it might work ok, but in the 2nd window, you have AirPlay, OS browser, camera, and LG share. If you want to split up windows, you're better off just using Windows 11 split screens or adjusting manually apps or different web-based video platforms. * The remote does not have bluetooth (BT) capability. It uses IR (line-of-sight) only. * The sound is average and is aimed downward. This is pretty normal for monitors - get a PC sound system or sound bar. MAJOR APPS SUPPORTED IN THE LG STORE: ------------------------------------------------- Netflix (quick button on remote) Prime Video (quick button on remote) Disney+ (quick button on remote) LG Channels (quick button on remote) Sling TV (quick button on the remote) Accuweather Amazon Music AMC Theaters on Demand Apple Music Apple TV CBS News CBS Sports Discovery GO ET Live Food Network GO Fubo TV Hallmark Movies NOW HBOmax HG TV GO Hulu Newsmax OAN Live Pandora Paramount+ Peacock Peloton Plex PlutoTV QVC/HSN Redbox Showtime Showtime Anytime SiriusXM Spotify Starz The CW TikTok TV TLC GO Tubi Twitch UFC Universal+ Vudu Xfinity Stream YouTube YouTube Kids YouTube TV ** There are a lot more apps available (ie. kids, foreign languages, screensavers, digital/analog clocks, movies, games, etc) ** Some apps require the user to create an LG account on the TV before they can be installed. ONE notable app not in the WebOS store is DirecTV Stream. This is huge miss by LG as it is a major streaming TV platform. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------- * Note this is not a 4K monitor. It's simply FHD in a 21:9 aspect ratio (3440x1440). This resolution allows for more real estate while at the same time allowing for an incredible 240Hz refresh rate. * Ports on the rear include 2 HDMI, 1 USB-C, 1 DP, 2 USB, Ethernet, and power. There is a 3.5mm headphones jack on the underside about 2 inches to the left of the joystick. In that same location, there is a rectangle hole for a computer/monitor lock to be affixed. * The coin battery used for the basic remote is a CR2025/3V. * There is about 1/4" black digital border around the screen. CONCLUSION: ===================== The WebOS and multi-menus from different aspects keep the user experience sub-optimal in that respect. The clunky remote should also be updated. Having said that, this monitor, once connected to your PC and everything is set up, it performs well and has an incredible picture and refresh rate. The fact that you can use the monitor as a PC connection or streaming TV is always a plus. Keep in mind that if you watch streaming, it will be in 16:9. This is my first curved-screen monitor, and I'm getting used to it. So far, I like it. I don't use many of the apps as it's my main PC gaming monitor. If LG can fix a few of the menu quirks and other annoyances, this monitor could be the real deal. I'd still recommend though. The picture is the primary focus, and it's quite good.
