A: What's your definition of long distance? If flying in the US you have to keep your drone in visual range at all times. The Mavic 2 can fly pretty far away but it's small and can be hard to see.

A: Battery life is diminished in cold temperatures. The last thing you want is to have your drone out a few miles when it suddenly dies!
