Q: What is the shortest hot water wash cycle with this washer?
A: What is the shortest normal cycle of ANY washer these days. Check in the manuals that they have online - some provide cycle times. Had an old school Kenmore agitator in 1988 that used water (was quick w/washers and always was done before the dryer was done-maybe 30 minutes max), 2005 bought an Kenmore HE Kenmore Elite which says a normal cycle took 39 minutes but never did, always took way longer-usually an hour. Now it died and I need a new washer. Very tired of 60 + minutes of washing a load of laundry. Want to go back to 30 minutes or less. Agitator or not! I have always run 3 loads a day with our large family. These HE's take all day long.
A: I've experienced 45 minutes or so for a normal load with two rinse cycles. Controls are a bit different from my prior 1995 Maytag, or the 1958 Maytag before that. Suspect longer cycles are for deep cleaning settings and/or low water pressure.

Q: Can I wash a king size comforter in this machine?
A: I washed a queen comforter with no problems, I am almost certain the washer could hold a king-size with no problem. The washer was never off balance and the soap distributed evenly. One of the reasons I ended up getting this washer was the water sensor to save on water and that it can handle washing comforters so I don't have to take it to a laundromat. I am very happy with my big purchase ticketed item, highly recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a new washer.
Q: Does this washer have a locking lid.
A: Hi oody, the MVWC465HW does feature a locking lid to allow for higher spin speeds (770 RPM). You will see the lid lock light on any time the lid is locked. If needed you can pause the cycle and the lid will unlock.
A: Hi Joan, if the load is out of balance, we have added some "leveling fluid" to the tub that will self adjust and balance the load. If you are washing heavy rugs or similar items you may have to assist if the load gets far out of balance. Normal loads will go out of balance much less often since the leveling fluid is always working to keep the load spinning.
Q: What is the height of this washer with the lid open?
A: John, the height with the lid open is 52 inches. We hope this helps!
A: Maytag-- you are correct that it can take up to 2 hrs. to run a load in the washer, but how "efficient" is that REALLY?? Who has that kind of time????? And you should put that in the description as well as the user guide.
