I gave it 4 stars due to the price. You can purchase off brands that work just as well as the microsoft brand for a fraction of the price. Just so happen the client that it was purchased for wanted the Microsoft brand because it makes them feel more comfortable knowing they are using it with a surface.

Still new and so far, so good but TBD on how long it will last.

Excellent means to mirror your screen from your surface to HDMI. I was in a hotel and the TV did not have a streaming or movie service. I was able to connect my computer with this nifty cord to the HDMI port and access my streaming service on the computer. Perfect screen mirror capability. Was able to watch my programs!

perfect (and needed) for wide-screen HD monitors

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.New desktop only provided mini display ports, Existing 32-inch wide-screen monitors only took HDMI inputs. This worked perfectly, retaining full screen width and full resolution. Cheaper adapters ($10 kind) apparently do not provide the proper voltage, and would downgrade the input to standard screen widths at high resolution, or maintain wide screen widths at a lower resolution. Even Dell tech support couldn't solve the problem with the cheaper adapters.

- A:Answer Touch screen monitors require a USB connection too. The touch feature doesn’t work via display cabling only.

- A:Answer Yes, used the "Mini Display Port to HDMI 2.0 adapter" to connect the monitor's HDMI cable to the Microsoft-Surface Dock's mini display port. Now able to use both monitors with the Surface Pro. Attached photo shows using two of the Mini Display Port to HDMI 2.0 adapters with the HDMI cables connected into the adapters, and connected to the Microsoft-Surface Dock's mini display ports.
