Horrible Product and Worst Customer Service

      Posted

We purchased five of these a year ago. First of all the range is not what they claim and most importantly THEY DO NOT HOLD A CHARGE LONGER THAN A DAY. We use them for hunting and have tried charging them with the battery packs they come with, with the USB and conventional batteries. With the conventional batteries I had to put new ones in daily. I contacted Midland customer service to rectify this situation, as we had spent over $200 on five of these and their response was "Sounds like your batteries are bad." I'm sorry Midland, but I don't think five days worth of batteries are bad. They just didn't want to deal with me. DON'T BUY THESE!! Not only will you have issues with them, but you will be disappointed how the company won't stand behind their own product.

      28 Miles is a Stretch

I live in a two story house with a full basement that contains a studio where I spend a good deal of time. My wife has some medical issues and I purchased the 2-way radios so that she could reach me when she is on the second floor and I am in the studio working. For that purpose, all is good. I thought the 28 mile distance would allow me the freedom to leave the house and make short trips with my wife still being able to reach me by simply pushing a button. On my first outing, less than a mile from the house, we were no longer able to communicate. 28 miles seems to be nothing more than a fantasy. Communication outside the house remains a phone call and not the push of a button away.

I didn't read the instructions upon buying these. They were bought as a test baby for inter-office communications. When they are paired with the headsets; made by midland as well; they are flawless. 2 way communication, talk on the channel and it will sense your voice if you want it to. Want the local weather? just push a button. 28 miles away? no problem. definitely would consider buying these again, and I probably will. They come with a recharging stand and if you lose that, just use micro-usb to recharge them.

These Walkies are Great. The have great sound and great range. We use them when we go camping which is often. My wife usually stays at the RV and go hiking with the dogs. Since we often don't have cell service when camping, the walkies allow us to stay in touch. And since they are rechargeable, they are always ready to go. Very happy with them.

We got maybe 2 miles from one another and they stopped working we tested them the 1st day bc that was why we bought these Walkin talkies. So the range is 2miles give or take but definitely not 28 miles. Other than that within the 2 miles they are a good 2 way radio.

Range will be relative to line of sight, terrain, and obstructions. Range will be better in rural areas than urban areas because of less interference. The radios are rated as "Up to 28 miles" and can be achieved across open water, flat desert, or mountain top to mountain top. MidlandUSA

I bought these for the few times we need them at work. I've even dropped them and they're still fine. They aren't high end , look at the price, so don't expect that sort of functionality. Definitely recommended.

I bought these to use at work so I can communicate with my staff from outside. Unfortunately, they no one could hear me inside. But when using it outside on hikes and so on, they work fine.

Not the top of the line radios, but they seem to work just fine for the price point. They run with the included rechargeable batteries, but I think you could also just use AAA if in a pinch and not able to charge the pack.
