A: It's powered by 4 AA batteries, so no problem in the event of main line power loss. If you let those batteries die, it's still possible to use the lock with a 9-volt battery.
A: I have three locks installed with two Nest Connects. The nest connects are more spaced out like a mesh network so it is not a one connect to one lock. You could potentially use one connect for all of them depending on the size and number of walls in the way. Each lock comes with a connect though so not something extra to buy.
